Alita: Battle Angel sees Yukito Kishiro’s beloved manga brought to life on the big screen – but does it have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel? The adaptation of Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita manga has been in development for quite some time, with visionary director James Cameron working to crack the story for many years. Cameron eventually moved on from the project, tackling the massive project of his Avatar film franchise instead. Cameron handed his notes over to director Robert Rodriguez, who took over the Battle Angel Alita adaptation.

Rodriguez directed Alita: Battle Angel from a script by Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis, adapting a portion of Kishiro’s manga. Early reactions to Alita: Battle Angel largely praised the innovative visual feats achieved by Rodriguez and the VFX team. However, Alita: Battle Angel early reviews have been more mixed, making it unclear whether 20th Century Fox and Rodriguez have a hit on their hands.

Now that Alita: Battle Angel is hitting theaters around the world, moviegoers will get to see the film for themselves, and they may be wondering whether it has any extra scenes or stingers during/after the credits. Alita: Battle Angel does NOT have a post-credits scene, meaning the film wraps up entirely before the credits roll. While it’s always worth checking out the credits of a movie to see who was involved in making that film, fans checking out Alita shouldn’t expect any additional scenes.

Of course, that’s not to say Alita: Battle Angel doesn’t set the stage for a sequel, since the end of the movie clearly paves the way for more adventures to come. Essentially, Battle Angel is an origin story for Alita (Rosa Salazar), but there are plenty more villains in Iron City and Zalem for her to take on, which she undoubtedly would in a sequel. However, all sequel setup in Alita: Battle Angel is done so before the credits role, rather than with a post-credits scene, though after-credits scenes have become more and more prevalent in Hollywood in recent years.

As for whether or not Alita: Battle Angel will get a sequel, that’ll be determined by a number of factors. Though reviews have been mixed, if the movie is a financial success, it may propel the studio to green light a sequel. However, with Fox’s film studio being acquired by Walt Disney Studios, it remains to be seen what the Mouse House will do with Fox’s film franchises. The Disney-Fox deal is expected to close in June, so all of Fox’s properties will then fall under Disney’s purview. If Alita is a success, it will likely be up to Disney whether it receives a sequel.
