Does Black Christmas Have A Post-Credits Scene?

Blumhouse’s Black Christmas – a loose remake of the 1974 proto-slasher classic – hits theaters today, but does it have a post-credits scene? While Black Christmas has never been as famous as contemporaries like Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, director Bob Clark’s tale of a sorority house besieged from within by a killer is essential viewing for any dedicated horror fan. Echoes of Black Christmas can be seen in many future films, and it helped create some of the slasher tropes that films like Halloween and Friday the 13th would go on to perfect.

Black Christmas got its first remake in 2006, a film that traded in all of the original’s subtlety and tension for explicit gore and things like making cookies out of human flesh. Black Christmas 2006 also removed the mystery aspect, spelling out who the killer is from the beginning, and delving into his sordid backstory. Needless to say, the film didn’t make waves at the box office, earned terrible reviews, and is disliked by most fans. The one real bright spot it has is a talented, likeable cast, including Katie Cassidy, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Now, Blumhouse has just unleashed the third version of Black Christmas into theaters, which looks to be even further away from the original than the 2006 rendition. Still, those who head out to see it might be interested to know if there’s any cool holiday treats waiting in the credits. While there isn’t anything post-credits, there is a brief mid-credits scene to look forward to.

Of course, even if there weren’t any kind of credits scene for Black Christmas, any movie buff should always consider staying until the very end, out of respect for those that helped make the film they just watched possible. It also offers the viewer a few minutes to sit and digest what they’ve just seen. Although, if one leads a busy life, sitting in the theater for those extra minutes might not always be possible.

With Black Christmas now out, Blumhouse’s 2019 horror slate is now officially complete, and the looking ahead to 2020 begins. The hotly anticipated Halloween Kills slashes into theaters next year, as does a horror take on Fantasy Island,The Purge 5, and a modern update of The Invisible Man. 2020 will be a big year for Blumhouse horror, especially thanks to the return of legendary boogeyman Michael Myers. For now though, it’s time to have a merry Black Christmas, and deck the halls with blood.
