STX Entertainment’s Hustlers tells the true story of strippers-turned-scammers, but does it have anything after the credits? Based on the 2015 New York Magazine article “The Hustlers at Scores” written by Jessica Pressler, Hustlers adapts the true story for a more fictionalized movie. Starring Jennifer Lopez as Ramona, the ringleader of the scamming group, and Constance Wu as her second-in-command Destiny, the film boasts a talented supporting cast that includes Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, Lizzo and Julia Stiles.

Hustlers follows Destiny when she meets Ramona at the strip club where they both work, with the latter taking the former under her wing. However, when the financial crisis of 2008 hits the club’s clientele hard, their friendship evolves into a partnership as they team up to lure rich men into the club. As seen in the Hustlers movie trailers, it’s a mix of heist thriller, comedy and character drama that has impressed critics ever since screening at the Toronto International Film Festival. Now, though, moviegoers have the chance to see the film for themselves.

With Hustlers hitting theaters around the world, viewers may be wondering whether they need to stick around until the very end of the credits for anything extra. Hustlers DOES have a credits scene – kind of. After the first portion of the credits screens, there’s a fun little scene at the mid-credits point. However, there’s no post-credits scene, other kind of tease or Easter egg for fans after the credits have fully screened. While the credits are always worth watching to get an idea of who was involved in the making of a movie, Hustlers viewers shouldn’t expect anything at the very end of the credits.

Considering it was based on real events and tells that entire story during its runtime, it makes sense that Hustlers wouldn’t have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel. The stories of Ramona and Destiny are wrapped up in Hustlers, so there’s little room for sequel opportunity. Instead of a possible sequel, the conversation around Hustlers will likely relate to its awards season chances. After screening at a film festival like TIFF, and given the warm reception it received from critics, there’s certainly potential for Hustlers to make an awards season run. Many think the work of writer-director Lorene Scafaria and Lopez herself should receive Oscar consideration, though it remains to be seen if that happens.

First, Hustlers will have a standard theatrical run, and the filmmakers will get an idea if casual moviegoers connect with the story as well as critics did. Thankfully, Hustlers is projected to be Lopez’s best opening weekend box office, which seems to be a good indication the film will connect with audiences. And for those checking out Hustlers in theaters, they just need to know the movie doesn’t have a post-credits scene – but it does have something fun for viewers during the early part of the credits.
