Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are back for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, but does the summer blockbuster have a post-credits scene? After the success of The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Lionsgate moved quickly to get the band back together for a sequel. Once again directed by Patrick Hughes, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard brings Reynolds and Jackson back together, with Salma Hayek receiving a larger role.

Picking up shortly after the events of the first film, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard follows Reynolds’ Michael Bryce as he is ordered to take a sabbatical from bodyguarding after losing his license. His peaceful vacation doesn’t long as Hayek’s Sonia Kincaid forces him to help save her husband Darius, who was kidnapped. The reunion between Bryce and the Kincaids quickly results in them getting caught up in a plot to attack most of Europe. They then have to work together to try and save the day from Aristotle Papadopoulos’ (Antonio Banderas) plan.

Now that The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is out in theaters, people around the world can check out the action-packed sequel. It is now commonplace for franchises to include post-credits scenes that tease what could come next or continue some running jokes from the movie itself. So do viewers need to stick through the credits here? The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has a mid-credits scene and a post-credits stinger. The mid-credits scene builds off the movie’s ending without directly setting up a sequel, and the stinger is a funny joke about something that happens in the third act.

The mid-credits scene for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard takes place shortly after the film’s ending with Bryce and the Kincaids aboard the boat. Bryce is driving the boat as he’s forced to listen to Sonia and Darius – his new legal parents – have sex once again. A voicemail from Interpol agent Bobby O’Neill (Frank Grillo) can be heard telling Michael that all three of them need to stay on the yacht for another month or two as he deals with getting them cleared. With the unbearable sound of Daris and Sonia’s activities overtaking the boat, Michael jumps overboard. The credits return before viewers get to see if Bryce survives or gets back onboard.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard‘s post-credits stinger isn’t a new scene but rather a funny tribute. The screen says “In loving memory of Gary and Jonah” and has pictures of the two Interpol agents on each side. Gary and Jonah are the Interpol agents that Bryce and Darius use as decoys in the third act. Gary and Jonah are killed by Papadopoulos’ men while they speed through the water on a boat and distract the security team as Bryce and Darius slowly travel to Papadopoulos’ location. It’s a good final joke for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard to end on and leaves the door wide open for where a sequel could go.
