Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s reality show Don’t Be Tardy has been canceled after eight seasons on Bravo, and we’re here to talk about the reason why the show didn’t get renewed. Don’t Be Tardy began when Kim and her now-husband Kroy Biermann married after meeting a year before. The reality show focused on their new life as a married couple who were growing their family. During its first season, Kim had her two eldest daughters (Brielle and Ariana) from a previous marriage, plus Kim and Kroy’s new baby boy, KJ. As the years went on, the Biermanns became one of the most beloved families on Bravo.

Before the former nursing student Kim and her family started their own reality show, she was a main cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Kim was known for living lavishly thanks to her secret boyfriend. She playfully called him Big Poppa. Viewers never got to see him or learn more about him, even though Big Poppa was a big part of Kim’s storyline. After Kim met Kroy, she tossed Big Poppa and RHOA to the curb. Kim started a new life with her new husband.

The cancellation of Don’t Be Tardy was confirmed by Us Weekly. That publication included a statement from Kim and Kroy, which featured the words, “rest assured, you will see the Biermann family on your TV screens again very soon. Grab yourself a glass of wine and stay tuned.” While fans may be devastated to hear that Don’t Be Tardy is coming to an end, the network (and Kim and Kroy) probably anticipated the cancellation. The ratings for season eight were a lot poorer than they were in season seven. The first couple of episodes had ratings of over 500,000, but viewers dropped by over 100,000 by the fourth episode. The number of viewers kept declining. Low ratings are surely the reason why the show got the axe.

The reality show made in debut on Bravo in 2012, shortly after Kim left in the middle of RHOA season four. Their first season was called Don’t Be Tardy For the Wedding. It focused on Kim and Kroy preparing for their lavish backyard nuptials. The show did grow a significant audience. It became a classic with Bravo fans. Kim’s daughters Brielle and Ariana have become famous (they launched a cosmetics company called KAB) in their own right. They have a combined Instagram following of almost two million. Viewers will miss the Zolciak-Biermann clan on their TV screens, but sometimes, good things must come to an end.

Now that Don’t Be Tardy is officially not returning for a ninth season, there is a possibility that Kim could join RHOA season 14. It’s been almost four years since Kim made an appearance on the show, and now might be her chance to come back as a full-time cast member. Some Housewives fans would surely welcome her back to the fold, as the past couple of seasons have been a little dull. Kandi Burruss has talked about season 13’s slow start. Kim’s addition to the cast may be what the show needs.
