In this game, players explore a ruined Earth after the denizens of Hell have made their way to the surface. Players take control of the Doom Slayer, who is on a mission to save the Earth from destruction. While playing, players will find hidden secrets like easter eggs from previous Doom titles and soundtracks from previous entries. There are even small toys players can stumble upon while playing the game. These secrets are well hidden, even for the players with the sharpest eyes. It is very possible to miss something while exploring the levels of Doom Eternal. One of the secrets in this game has to do with the Empyrean Keys, which are required for unlocking the series iconic Unmakyr weapon. The Ummakyr weapon has a long and complicated history for the franchise but makes its return in Doom Eternal. This guide will provide the location of every Empyrean Key and how to unlock them.

The Unmakyr weapon is right at the center of the Fortress of Doom. In order the access it, the player must collect all 6 Empyrean Keys hidden around the levels. The Ummakyr weapon was made originally for the initial release of Doom back in 1993 according to the Doom Bible, a document detailing the original development of the game. The weapon was cut for unknown reasons but later emerged in Doom 64 several years later. Now in Doom Eternal, players can access it once all the Empyrean Keys are collected. In order to find collect each key, the player must defeat these hidden rooms known as the Slayer Gates. These are challenging rooms hidden throughout a few levels of the game where the Doom Slayer is barraged by several demon types all at once. These rooms are amongst some of the biggest and most difficult challenges in the game. In order to access these rooms, the player must first locate the Slayer Keys, keys that are hidden relatively close to the Slayer Gates themselves. All Empyrean Key Locations in Doom Eternal

Here are the missions in which the Slayer Gates are hidden. It is recommended the return for these gates after completing the game. These gates are extremely challenging, so having later game weapons and upgrades are ideal. While facing them.

Exultia Slayer Key Gate Location in Doom Eternal

The first Slayer Key is located in the Exlutia mission. To find it, it will be shortly after entering the portal into the Hellscape. It will be after the floating platform puzzle. It will be on the right side of the cave. Notice a floating dash refill in the air to help locate where the Slayer Key is. Jump and dash cross three platforms high up to get the key. Enter the Slayer Gate and complete the challenge.

Cultist Base Key Gate Location in Doom Eternal

The second Slayer Key is located in the Cultest Base mission. Fortunately for this gate, the key is right near the gate. Climb the walls on the side and search for monkey bars to use to jump across. Dash from wall to wall until reaching the final grabbable wall, this will lead to a tunnel. Turn around and jump into the room then use more bars to reach a small crawl space with the key hidden inside. Enter the Slayer Gate and complete the challenge.

Super Gore Nest Key Gate Location in Doom Eternal

The third Slayer Key is in the Super Gore Nest mission. Head into the Super Gore Nest Arena where all three keys are needed. Head to the right of the gate and search for a small pink tunnel. Here through there to find the Slayer Key. Complete the challenge to unlock the next main key.

Arc Complex Key Gate Location in Doom Eternal

The fourth Slayer Key is in the Arc Complex mission. After the first battle in the room with the street filled with sludge, head towards the skyscraper and defeat all thee demons. Move until reaching a main atrium room and spot both the key and the gate in one frame. Head up to the staircase in the atrium then locate a climbing wall. Jump towards it and grab the key by jumping off and dashing. Complete the challenge to unlock the next key.

Mars Core Key Gate Location in Doom Eternal

The fifth Slayer Key can be found in the Mars Core mission. This key will appear after the part with the Doom Slayer is hopping over rocks. Inside, there’s a button to press which will open up a new area and show a new platform. This key is above the platform. The gate is directly below the key itself. Look for an entrance and fall into it. Inside will be the key. Enter the Slayer Gate and complete the challenge for the fifth key.

Taras Nabad Key Gate Location in Doom Eternal

The sixth and final Slayer Key will be located in the Catacombs. Search deep within the sewers after finishing up all the water section parts of the level. The key will be right before the Catacombs ends. Follow the path forward for the key. After getting the key, keep moving forward to find the gate on the right side of the catacombs.

After getting all six keys, return to the Fortress of Doom for the Unmakyr weapon. An animation will play and the gun will belong to the Doom Slayer. This is the only non-mandatory weapon to get in the game. The rest is given to the Doom Slayer throughout the story. The Unmakyr uses the same ammo type as the BFG, some of the rarest ammo in the game. Since the weapon is so powerful, it can shoot 30 times per round. It also shares the name as the alien species in the game, the Makyr race. Doom Eternal introduced many more stories when compared to the rest of the franchise. As the story continues to develop, Doom Eternal does a great job of creating an interesting narrative.
