Developer id Software has revealed SIXTY FORSAKEN, an all-new in-game event for DOOM Eternal that allows players to unlock new cosmetics, including the long-anticipated DOOM 64 Classic Marine skin for the Doom Slayer. The DOOM 64 Marine and Quake Ranger skins were leaked for DOOMEternal back in October by dataminers who discovered their in-game models after the title’s 6.66 update released. While the Quake Ranger skin released shortly after the announcement of the Quake remaster, the DOOM 64 classic marine outfit continued to be absent, worrying many that hoped the fan-favorite outfit would make an appearance.

Despite its campaign closing out with its last expansion The Ancient Gods – Part 2, DOOM Eternal continues to be regularly updated with challenging in-game events, new game modes, and unlockable Series-tier cosmetics packs with exclusive skins for players who want to customize the Doom Slayer. DOOM Eternal now has more than 40 skins, ranging from majestic armors and wacky costumes to classic id Software homages. Due to certain skins being limited-time only and locked behind gaming offers like Twitch Prime, Bethesda later released purchasable Cosmetic Packs for players who missed out. While benefiting new players, this still ignited controversy, as id Software originally promised that it wouldn’t add microtransactions to DOOM Eternal.

Officially announced on Steam, id Software has revealed SIXTY FORSAKEN, an all-new in-game event for DOOM Eternal that allows players to unlock the DOOM 64 Classic Marine Master Collection and numerous other cosmetics. From now until March 3, players can complete campaign levels, participate in the title’s online BATTLEMODE and finish the weekly challenge to earn XP and unlock the brand-new Master Collection. With the addition of the DOOM 64 Classic Marine Skin, players can unlock the Tainted Marauder and Goblin King Archvile skins, as well as several weapon skins, icons, and player badges. Similar to previous Series events, the SIXTY FORSAKEN event will be for a limited time only, so interested players will need to accumulate XP as soon as they can, as the Master Collection will only be purchasable in the future if it doesn’t reappear.

DOOM 64 is considered a classic amongst the DOOM community, and the Classic Marine is known as the most commonly requested Doom Slayer skin since the title originally released in 2020. In the same year as DOOM Eternal‘s release, id Software rejuvenated DOOM 64, revealing that a brand-new remaster would be making its way to PC and modern consoles for the very first time. The title feature revamped graphics with 4K visuals, technical upgrades, and a brand-new chapter taking place after the events of the original game, tying itself directly into the story of DOOM (2016).

One of the most popularly requested skins has officially made its way to DOOM Eternal, and players can finally unlock the outfit that the Doom Slayer wore before finally trapping himself in hell for eternity. While it’s unknown if another id Software homage skin will make an appearance, players can participate in the brand-new SIXTY FORSAKEN event and unlock the skin that popularized DOOM 64.

DOOM Eternal is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.
