Doon Patrol season 3 has finished filming. Titans‘s rabble-rousing, zany spin-off, which adapts the eponymous, long-running DC comic series, Doom Patrol tells the tale of a disparate superhero team that is brought together by its members’ quirky abilities. Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby), Jane (Diane Guerrero and others), Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Matt Bomer), and Cyborg (Joivan Wade), all train under the instruction of Chief (Timothy Dalton); they lean on each other for support and gradually become an unlikely family. Since its premiere, Doom Patrol has been praised for its emotional depth and commitment to off-center storytelling, and it’s the success of the show that has encouraged DC to continue the stories despite various odds.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

When Doom Patrol launched in 2019, it aired exclusively on the DC Universe streaming service. But after the renewal, season 2 aired on both DC Universe and the Warner Media-backed streamer, HBO Max. Doom Patrol‘s second season ended with a cliffhanger that saw young Dorothy Spinner set off to confront The Candlemaker by herself. But while the suspenseful ending left fans staggering, the fate of the show remained up in the air as DC Universe announced that it was dropping its original content. Thankfully, it was later announced that Doom Patrol had been renewed for season 3 at HBO Max and that it would return to resolve its suspensful season 2 ending. Doom Patrol season 3 filming began with a BTS shot in January, and now a cast member has offered an update on the status of the production.

On Friday, Cyborg actor Joivan Wade posted a couple of pictures to Instagram, indicating that Doom Patrol has wrapped up filming on its third season. He also wrote a heartfelt note to commemorate the end of production, promising that the upcoming season 3 would be “the best one yet.” With emotions riding high, Wade applauded the remarkable writing, impressive performances, and tireless endeavors of the crew and said that fans are going to love the new season. It isn’t just Wade’s post that’s hyping viewers up, but previous updates from the sets of Doom Patrol also have fans equally excited for the show’s return. As confirmed earlier, season 3 will introduce a new supervillain group, the Sisterhood of Dada, led by Micah Joe Parker’s pensive invisible soul Malcolm, Wynn Everett’s charming and poetic terrorist Shelley Byron/ The Fog, Miles Mussenden’s destructive mask sculptor Lloyd Jefferson/ Frenzy, Anita Kalathara’s idle rogue Holly McKenzie/ Sleepwalk, and Gina Hiraizumi’s puzzling, hygiene-obsessed tyrant Sachiko/ Quiz. Besides them, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Michelle Gomez has also been cast as the villainous Madame Rouge; she will arrive at the Doom Manor with a secret mission. Ty Tennant, Sebastian Croft, and Madalyn Horcher also appear as members of the Dead Boy Detective Agency.

The news of Doon Patrol finishing work on its third season is frankly thrilling. Fans have long awaited the return of the unlikely superheroes, especially after season 2 was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now it finally looks like the show is just on its way. Being a superhero drama, Doom Patrol is heavily loaded with top-notch VFX. This means that after winding up the shoot, the show will probably remain in post-production for at least a couple of months. That said, season 3 should be ready to premiere by fall, with teasers and trailers releasing throughout summer. So even though a release date has yet to be announced, fans can brace themselves for a bombardment of tidbits from the show that is inevitably coming their way.
