Warning! Spoilers for Strange Academy ahead!

The name Dormammu would normally make anyone throughout Marvel’s Multiverse tremble in their boots, but for the students at Strange Academy, Doyle Dormammu is just another classmate of theirs, and he’s a nice kid to boot. Doyle is the son of the extra-dimensional, ultra-powerful demonic entity Dormammu, as evidenced by his flaming head and hellish power. Unlike his father, however, Doyle is a genuinely sweet and kind young man – albeit pretty cocky and, for lack of a better term, hot-headed

Doyle is not the only student with less-than-ideal parentage – the twins Iric and Alvi are the children supervillain Enchantress – but Doyle definitely has the evilest lineage out of any of the students. Dormammu, or the Lord of Chaos, is the tyrant ruler of the Dark Dimension, and is Doctor Strange’s greatest villain. Due to this, Doyle has had to try even harder than all the other students to prove his worth, loyalty, and good heart. However, this hasn’t been difficult for Doyle, since it seems he is naturally very different from his father. He’s seen befriending lonely students, sacrificing himself for a girl he loves, and condemning his father every chance he gets.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

During one of the students’ first big fights, against a dimensional threat known as The Hollow, Doyle sacrificed himself to try and save his classmates, seemingly becoming the first student at the Academy to die. When Emily Bright and Doyle were taken into Doctor Strange’s magical operating room, Strange was only able to save Emily. However, eventually, Emily able to bring Doyle back with a kiss and a lot of leftover magic from her defeating The Hollow. After Doyle’s resurrection, he agreed to let Doctor Strange take a piece of his “bounding crown” to make a ring of protection for Emily that would keep her overpowering magic at bay.

Throughout the events of Strange Academy, Doyle has often been at the center of the students’ antics, drama, and heroics. Doyle may not be the perfect student, once getting sent to Limbo by Professor Magik for laughing at Alvi, but he has proved time and time again that although he might have Dormammu’s genes and powers, he does not take after his father. His close friendship with the lonely Calvin Morse has shown his caring side, and his developing relationship with Emily has been a highlight of Strange Academy’s first year.
