There are few fights more epic in the Dragon Ball universe than that between Goku and Frieza on Planet Namek, and a fan painting perfectly captures the incredible scale of that fight in epic fashion. Goku and Frieza’s fight is easily one of the most famous in the entire saga not only because of how epic the battle was but because it marked the first time Goku reaches Super Saiyan. Now, fans have another way to remember the glory of that battle in a fan painting that gorgeously captures the energy of the original.

Goku fought Frieza for the first time in the manga Dragon Ball Z during the “Frieza Saga” event by Akira Toriyama. In the storyline, Frieza and his troops invade Planet Namek in search of the Dragon Balls, killing anyone who stands in his way. One of the people who Frieza killed was Krillin, and he did it right in front of Goku. The rage Goku feels after Frieza murders his best friend makes the Saiyan surge with an energy he had never felt before and makes the transformation into a Super Saiyan. Goku then viciously attacks Frieza, and the two partake in a battle that ravages the entire planet.

In two pieces of artwork by Daniel Oxford, the legendary battle between Goku and Frieza on Planet Namek is beautifully shown in the fan-made painting. The artwork puts the fighters into perspective relative to their planetary battleground. In the first painting, the perspective is behind Goku looking towards Frieza who is a great distance away from the Super Saiyan with an enormous canyon in between. In the second painting, the two are seconds from erupting into a flurry of punches, kicks, and energy blasts.

In the manga, Goku and Frieza fly across the entirety of Planet Namek as they fight to the death. With incredible speed and powerful blasts, the two destroy the planet on which they’re fighting over the course of mere minutes. The artwork truly shows how epic a feat it is to destroy an entire planet in the middle of a fight between two normal-sized fighters. 

In epic detail and astoundingly realistic style, the artist perfectly shows how epic the fight between Goku and Frieza really is. Within the realm of Dragon Ball, it is not uncommon to see a single entity destroying an entire planet, so two powerful ones doing so isn’t too crazy an idea. However, because of the style of these paintings and the realism they bring, one can’t help but to imagine two fighters with enough power to destroy a whole world simply by fighting each other in real life as the Dragon Ball fan painting captures Goku and Frieza’s original epic scale.
