SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Among the cast of memorable villains featured in Kakarot, one of the first players will do battle with, is the fan-favorite Vegeta battle. Featured in the Saiyan Saga section of the story, Vegeta presents players with their first true challenged thus far in the story. The Saiyan prince comes with an array of highly damaging attacks and powerful combinations that will challenge even the most battle-hardened players. This guide will provide players some tips and tricks in order to defeat the narcissistic villain and save the world of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Vegeta’s Attacks in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

The first step in overcoming the Saiyan prince is to understand which moves to watch out for as you battle the villain. His arsenal consists of highly damaging attacks and is one which should not be taken lightly when facing Vegeta.

Among his attacks, Vegeta has a powerful roundhouse style kicking attack. This attack is visually cued when Vegeta begins to glow a bright red and can be seen slowly winding up his powerful kick attack. When you see this cue startup, be sure to back away from the Saiyan to a safe distance. The attack hosts quite a long-range and is one which will deplete a large chunk of Goku’s life. Given its slow start-up and visual cues, players will have plenty of time to evade the attack.

Vegeta possesses two main ki blast attacks that should be taken into consideration. The first being his powerful ki blast barrage, in which the Saiyan prince launches a large number of powerful ki shots at Goku. These attacks if allowed to connect can rack up a large chunk of damage on Goku so be ready to evade the blasts or simply block them. The second attack to watch out for is Vegeta’s powerful ki slash attack. Vegeta will launch a wide-ranged ki blast in the shape of a sword slash and the blast will travel in a sporadic pattern towards Goku. Be sure to dodge either left or right to avoid the wide blast then counter-attack.

Vegeta hosts two other melee-oriented attacks, the first being a series of lightning-fast kick attacks. These attacks can be blocked, but if allowed to connect can dish out a huge sum of damage onto Goku. Vegeta also will perform an “instant transmission” style attack in which he will teleport behind Goku and unleash a powerful series of damaging blows. The only way to avoid this move is to block, and it will typically be signaled with a cut scene of Vegeta powering up.

The final move to watch out for are the two different variations of Galick Gun at Vegeta’s disposal. The first version is one in which Vegeta charges up the blast, and this variation can be interrupted by attacking the villain. The second version is one in which Vegeta does not charge up the attack and is more difficult to react to. Try your best to avoid the attack but if all else fails simply block the attack and take a fraction of the potential attack.

Fighting Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

When doing battle with the fan-favorite Vegeta, it is essential that you stay cautious while maintaining a bit of aggressiveness. The Saiyan prince has some powerful “get off me” moves but none of which are unavoidable. This allows players to fight the prince head-on while giving them time to avoid his strongest attacks.

The fight boils down to countering Vegeta’s large recovery moves. For example, after his Ki slash attacks Vegeta is left vulnerable to counter-attacks. So understanding which moves place the villain in large amounts of recovery will open up the chance for Goku to unleash a powerful counter-attack.

Also, be sure to utilize the Kaoiken transformation as often as possible. This will up Goku’s damage and allow for him to take away even more health from Vegeta during these counter-attack openings. This transformation coupled with some smart usages of the Kamehameha attack will deplete the villain’s health in no time.

Fighting the Great Ape in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

After depleting the human form of Vegeta, he will transform into his powerful Great Ape form and gain a considerable amount of higher damage.

When fighting Great Ape Vegeta be sure to watch out for his powerful beam attack. This attack does a hefty chunk of damage and can easily wipe out an unsuspecting Goku. So stay aware of when Vegeta backs off from a close-range fight, this is the signal that he will begin unleashing this attack. So as soon as Vegeta backs away dodge to the right or left of wherever he is facing.

Although his attacks are stronger, this version of Vegeta is both slower and a bigger target. This allows for Goku to unleash some more damaging counter-attacks and allows the space for the Kamehameha attack to gain some more traction. This is due to the fact that the move is less likely to miss during this phase of the fight and will play a crucial role in defeating Vegeta.

When facing this version of Vegeta stay aware of his powerful attacks and unleash devastating counter-attacks when possible. Once enough damage is sustained, a cut scene will trigger signaling the defeat of the infamous battle.
