Warning! Spoilers ahead for Dragon Ball Super chapter 80!

The debate over whether Vegito or Gogeta is the best-fused form in Dragon Ball might be a major point of contention with fans. But there’s one fusion that’s actually better than both of them – and it hasn’t happened yet.

Goku and Vegeta’s two fused states are compelling mostly because of the latter Saiyan’s pride. It’s actually due to this internal anguish Vegeta always endures why Kefla – the fusion between Universe 6’s Kale and Caulifla – isn’t considered strongest. With that in mind, the difficulties that would undoubtedly arise should Goku and Granolah the Cerealian ever have to fuse to defeat their current opponent Gas of the Heeter Force would be far more complicated.

As of chapter 80, Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah have run into a brick wall. Although planet Cereal’s dragon Toronbo made Gas the strongest warrior in the universe, Granolah still held the upper hand because he had more time to master a form of Instant Transmission they both received from Toronbo who apparently made the move an unexpected key to being the most powerful. However, Gas enters a berserker state and undergoes an awakening, causing his power level to skyrocket. This puts all three of Gas’ opponents at a major disadvantage, as they are still weakened from earlier fights. Fusion could definitely solve this dilemma. Since Vegeta already has serious reserves about fusing, the deed would fall on Goku and Granolah. But would Granolah concede? And if he did, how much of a mental toll would the experience cause?

As fans recall, Granolah only recently came to accept Goku and Vegeta. The Cerealian has been harboring a hatred for Saiyans ever since Frieza employed them to wipe out his planet. But during that initial faceoff against Goku and Vegeta, Granolah’s caretaker, the Namekian Monaito, dropped a massive bombshell, revealing that Granolah and his mother originally survived because of a Saiyan – Goku’s father Bardock. Even though this allows Granolah to form a tenuous alliance with the two Saiyans, it’s understandable that he would still be contending with the decades of hate he’s felt. Fighting alongside a Saiyan is one thing, but actually merging with them is another.

From Gas’ perspective, the fact that he would have to fight a stronger version of his enemy that happens to also combine two warriors he hates would have an intriguing effect on the villain. In a recent flashback, Dragon Ball Super revealed that Gas always wanted to kill Granolah but was forced to work with him because his brother and leader Elec felt it best. Gas was always disgusted at the thought that Granolah could be stronger than him after Toronbo granted the Cerealian his wish and even refused to leverage his own Dragon Ball-bestowed power since he wanted to defeat Granolah with his own strength. But a version of Granolah combined with Goku would amplify that hatred because of how much Goku looks like his father, Bardock. Even though fans have yet to see what happened, Bardock somehow beat Gas years ago, and it still haunts Gas, so much so that just making that connection temporarily stopped his berserker state.

Although any fused form of Goku and Vegeta possesses their own merits, a fusion between Goku and Granolah would easily transcend Gogeta and Vegito. Vegeta might be all about doing things himself (hence why Ultra Ego is perfect for him) and he might want to transcend Goku especially, but Goku didn’t destroy the Saiyan race. To put it in perspective, Granolah fusing with Goku is more akin to Vegeta fusing with Frieza – which would never happen in Dragon Ball. The next question, however, is whether Goku and Granolah’s fusion name would be Granoku or Gokolah.
