The Dragon Ball franchise has certainly had its fair share of villains over the years but none of them can claim to be as mysterious or strange as the elusive Majin Ozotto. With his vast array of powers similar to those of both Cell and Majin Buu, Majin Ozotto poses a uniquely dangerous threat to anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path. Ozotto first appeared in the 1994 video game, Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S as the final boss only to resurface more than two decades later in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission manga.

In his first appearance within Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S, Ozotto uses his powers as a shapeshifter to completely mimic his foes, forcing the Z Fighters to battle mirror versions of one another. This technique is so powerful it allows Ozotto to perfectly replicate the techniques of each fighter as well, leading him to be capable of using the Spirit Bomb when imitating Goku. On top of this powerful imitation technique, Ozotto has the ability to consume entire planets with an absorption technique similar to Cell’s, which enables him to steal the powers of those he dissolves into himself.

When Majin Ozotto appears in Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission, it is revealed that he has been placed on the Prison Planet by the demon scientist Fu. Ozotto lurks behind the Z Fighters in a cloud of dark smoke, materializing behind Oolong and quickly stealing a Dragon Ball from him. Ozotto’s teleportation abilities allow him to warp space-time and avoid being caught on the battlefield where Goku and Vegeta are still skirmishing with Cumber. Ozotto’s ability to disappear and enter battles undetected proves crucial to his escape from the Prison Planet as he manages to make off with all of the Dragon Balls unscathed until being confronted by Trunks and Mai. Even when found, however, Ozotto is easily able to beat them back and wish himself off the Prison Planet.

Ozotto’s appearance in Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission shows that no villain is too obscure to make a reappearance. His striking appearance is also directly taken from Akira Toriyama’s prototype designs for Cell, showing how Toei and Toriyama are always looking to repurpose designs into new characters. His design also incorporates aspects of Frieza’s second form and Tien Shinhan’s three eyes, creating an altogether grotesque image. This unique combination of attributes makes it seem as if Majin Ozotto was meant to embody the strengths of of Goku’s greatest enemies.

Though he may have been one of the most obscure Dragon Ball characters ever, Majin Ozotto does have the potential to become one of the most dangerous antagonists in the manga’s history. With the power to completely copy an opponent’s abilities, as well as absorb them into himself, he could easily become nigh invincible if left to his own devices for too long. Ozotto’s strange powers as well as his status as a Majin from millenia ago may also be crucial to understanding the history of the Dragon Ball universe as well as the origin of the Majin Clan altogether. With powers that eclipse Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu, fans of Dragon Ball should absolutely be on the lookout for the return of Majin Ozotto in either Super Dragon Ball Heroes or towards the end of Dragon Ball Super as Toei clearly isn’t done with this character yet.
