Dream Home Makeover: Are Shea and Syd McGee Mormon?

Shea and Syd McGee from the Netflix original show Dream Home Makeover, which premiered on October 16, are the sweetest husband and wife duo streaming. Since 2014, they have been running two successful businesses. They’ve also written a highly-anticipated home design book, Make Life Beautiful.

In the six-episode Netflix series, the husband and wife team help individual families find beauty in their homes and lives. Of the work they do, Shea said, “Whether our client has 2 million dollars or $20,000, I want them all to feel that sense of peace when they walk in the door.” Shea is the aesthetic eye on the home-themed reality show, while Syd handles the marketing and financial end. In a recent Instagram post, Shea spoke about their commitment to design… and to each other: “Early on in our business, we learned that complete trust in each other was all we needed if we wanted to succeed. We also learned that it was better if I stick to the creative side of things while Syd covered all operational logistics. 😂 In our book, Syd and I share both of our perspectives throughout our journey—the ups and downs, what we’ve learned from setbacks, how to juggle our business and family life, and so much more.”

Since these two are just so loving, viewers are wondering all about them! Fans know that the McGees are college sweethearts. According to their happy family portraits, the McGee couple from Dream Home Makeover shares two beautiful daughters: 7-year-old Wren and 4-year-old Ivy. They also take plenty of cute couples pics, such as the post below, from their Studio McGee Instagram account:

There is no concrete evidence to say that these reno-focused reality TV stars are or aren’t, but there is some reason to think they might be. In 2007, Shea graduated from Brigham Young University, which is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is also known as the Mormon Church. Also, MormonWiki claims that the two are registered members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We haven’t heard the pair publicly confirm whether or not they are Mormon, so the jury is still out. Their book is set to be released on October 27, and while it is an interior design book, Barnes & Noble does describe it as having, “inspirational topics to help readers build an authentic life.” With that in mind, maybe we will find out more about that aspect of McGee’s lives after their book is available. One thing we know for sure is that the husband and wife of  Dream Home Makeover are dynamic, fun, and design-minded!
