Dwayne Johnson confirms that Young Rock season 2 will premiere in March of next year. The sitcom, co-created by Johnson and Nahnatchka Khan, made its debut on NBC back in February. Showing key moments in Johnson’s upbringing, from growing up around professional wrestlers, to his struggles in high school and playing football at the University of Miami, Young Rock unfolds in different timelines that helped shape Johnson into the global superstar he’d eventually become. In order to tell these three different storylines, the series features a trio of actors that move in and out of playing the title role. Johnson, at 10 years old, is played by Adrian Groulx, and then Bradley Constant portrays the actor from the age of 15, before Uli Latukefu steps in during Johnson’s college years.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

It was announced earlier this month that NBC’s comedy slate – including Mr. Mayor, Kenan, and Young Rock – would air their own holiday specials on December 15. In the case of Johnson’s Young Rock, which will see its main cast returning, the special will be titled “A Christmas Peril” and will show the young star dealing with a run of disastrous Christmases. From there, as Johnson has now confirmed, the debut of Young Rock season 2 isn’t much far behind.

The former WWE star shared a post on Instagram, which confirmed that Young Rock season 2 will arrive to NBC on March 15, 2022. Johnson shared a few promotional photos of the upcoming episodes and expressed, in the caption of his post, that he was grateful for the sitcom’s big success during season 1 and that he “can’t wait” to share new Young Rock episodes with audiences. Young Rock season 1 ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, as it related to the series’ storyline of Johnson running for president in the year 2032. Although it was heavily hinted that Johnson had emerged victorious in his efforts, this was not explicitly stated. The closing moments of the Young Rock season 1 finale also showed a very emotional and unscripted moment between The Rock and his mother, in which they remembered Johnson’s father, the late Rocky Johnson. The scene encapsulated, for many, why Young Rock was so successful, even as it stuck to the familiar formula of a traditional network sitcom. Johnson’s love for his family came across as authentic and resonated with many viewers that had lost a loved one.

Young Rock season 2 will pick up on those threads. It will also feature more appearances from WWE legends, like Roddy Piper, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and Gene Okerlund, as it continues to build on the show’s universe and expand on the elements that viewers found so engaging in the comedy’s initial batch of episodes. Matt Willig, who made an impression as the incomparable Andre the Giant, will also appear more frequently as he’s been upped to a regular cast member.Given Johnson’s excitement and glowing endorsement ofYoung Rockseason 2, fans can surely expect more “wild, unpredictable” adventures for the Hollywood star in new episodes.
