In an Instagram post from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the star reveals a first look at Young Rock season 2, NBC’s biographical sitcom following Johnson through different periods of his life. Co-created by Johnson and Nahnatchka Khan, the series premiered in February 2021, showcasing The Rock’s life story – from childhood, to collegiate football, to professional wrestling, and beyond. Johnson will continue telling his story, with support from a cast that brings multiple timelines to life. Adrian Groulx returns as child Dwayne, Bradley Constant plays his teen years, and Uli Latukefu will again take on the young adult stage. Other cast members will return as well, including Randall Park, Stacey Leilua, Joseph Lee Anderson, and Ana Tuisila.

Through intertwining vignettes, the young actors tell the story of how The Rock came to be the superstar he is today. Narrating the entire affair is an adult Dwayne Johnson, who’s on the campaign trail for the 2032 presidency. The show is framed as this future version of The Rock narrating his life story to Park’s actor-turned-journalist. Season 2 will likely pick up with the results of the election, as the cast returns with more fun antics from the star’s past.

The Rock took to Instagram with exclusive photos previewing season 2, noting the premiere date of March 15. Sharing a first look at what’s next for the sitcom with his 299 million followers, fans reacted with overwhelming positivity. From the looks of it, there will be more fun shared between Johnson and Park even after the election, as well as intimate moments between his teenage self and his father, his football career as a young adult, and lessons from his mother in childhood. Audiences responded warmly to the NBC comedy, as Young Rock humorously explored Johnson’s most iconic moments, including coming up with WWE catchphrases and the now-infamous fanny pack photo. The series balances a lighthearted, comedic tone, with important themes learned throughout Johnson’s life. NBC saw immense success when it came to streaming numbers for the series, and announced season two in November 2021.

Johnson’s sincere social media post touches on his gratitude for being able to tell his story and teases a fun future for the next season. While there is no explicit proof that Johnson will win the election and take on the office of president, fans can certainly at least look forward to flashbacks from The Rock’s WWE career. Young Rock also looks like it will explore Johnson’s experience with football, what trials he faced training in the ring, and a litany of new hobbies with Park including cooking and perhaps even horseback riding. Season 2 is approaching quickly, and with lingering questions about Johnson’s election results, audiences can look forward to more episodes full of wholesome life lessons from the Hollywood legend soon.
