Dancing With The Stars pro dancer Alan Bersten considers himself lucky to have been partnered with Amanda Kloots for season 30 of the show, calling her his “dream partner.” Alan started appearing on the show as a member of the troupe in season 20 and stayed there for five years. As a troupe member, Alan was able to showcase his choreography and dance skills. In season 24, Alan was asked to step in as contestant Heather Morris’ dance partner, after cast member Maksim Chmerkovskiy was injured in rehearsal. Due to his success with Heather, and a positive reaction from fans, Alan was officially brought in as a pro dancer in season 25. He went on to win the Mirrorball trophy in season 28, with his partner, Hannah Brown.

This season, Alan was partnered with Amanda, one of the co-hosts on The Talk and a former New York City Rockette. In the early days of the pandemic, Amanda shared her journey struggling with her husband’s COVID-19 diagnosis. Her husband Nick Cordero contracted COVID in late March of 2020, and quickly took a turn for the worse, as he wound up unconscious in the ICU. Amanda was able to stay positive throughout the whole experience and kept fans updated every step of the way. Sadly, Nick passed away in July 2020, after months in the hospital. He left behind his wife and their one-year-old son, Elvis. Amanda has maintained her positive attitude through her loss and is committed to keeping Nick’s memory alive.

Alan is now speaking about his partnership with Amanda, calling her the partner of his dreams. During a recent appearance on The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul, Alan claimed he could not have dreamt of a better partner. During the interview, he called Amanda one of the sweetest people he’s met and considered himself extremely lucky to have her as his partner this season. Alan explained that while the pro is supposed to be the one teaching the celebrity a new skill, he actually learned something much more valuable from Amanda. Through dancing with Amanda, Alan learned to cherish each day for what it is and to be grateful for everything he has. Amanda also taught him to approach every situation with kindness, and to never let the negativity in the world chip away at the kindness he shows to others.

Alan finds Amanda’s story (and ability to remain kind throughout it all) very impressive. During the interview, he explained that Amanda has been through so much in the past few years and still continues to choose kindness. Alan claims she goes through life continuously checking in and saying hi to every person she meets, to make sure they’re okay. Alan called her ability to spread positivity despite experiencing so much negativity inspiring, and loves the way she makes people smile wherever she goes. All of this put together made Amanda the perfect partner for Alan, which proves that winning the Mirrorball Trophy isn’t the most important thing about the show.

Alan won the Mirrorball once, and he’s been in third place with Amanda. It will be interesting to see if Alan will become the new Derek Hough, and set a new record for most first-place wins by a pro on the show. Derek has five wins under his belt, but he’s been out of the game for a while. This leaves the door open for other Dancing With The Stars pros, including Alan, to take that top spot from him.
