Cheryl Burke may return to the ballroom for one more season of Dancing With The Stars, despite recent talk of possibly retiring. Cheryl is one of the original professional dancers on the show. Despite taking a few seasons off from the show a few years back, Cheryl has been competing since season 2 in 2006. Over the years, she has taken home two Mirrorball Trophies.

Now Cheryl is close to winning a third Mirrorball Trophy. For the milestone 30th season of Dancing With The Stars, Cheryl has been dancing alongside Peloton instructor-turned-influencer Cody Rigsby. Both Cheryl and Cody were shocked at the semifinal results when they learned they had made it to the finals of the dancing competition. The dancing duo has not had it easy this season. During the first few weeks of the season, both Cody and Cheryl tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in them rehearsing and performing both individually and virtually.

Despite the difficulties Cheryl and Cody were faced with this season, they have made it to the finals on DWTS. Their shocking success this season has Cheryl considering returning to the ballroom for one more season. During a recent episode of her podcast Pretty Messed Up, Cheryl spoke with fellow professional dancer Witney Carson. The two ladies discussed their future on the show. At the start of DWTS season 30, Cheryl was considering retiring after the conclusion of the milestone season. Now she is rethinking this decision. During the conversation, Cheryl admitted that she has “another year” of dancing on the show left in her.

Cheryl continued on to explain that deciding whether to retire or return for one more season is a big decision for her and her husband. The couple is planning on starting a family soon. However, Cheryl hopes to be completely done with this chapter of her life before she welcomes her first child into the world. She fears that since she is older than most of the other professional dancers, she will not be able to “bounce back” the way they have after having babies. She explained, “I’m 37. I need to put everything in perspective, that my body hurts already without being pregnant.” Witney, who stepped away from the show for DWTS season 29 to have her first child, also admitted she may not be returning for DWTS season 31 in order to have baby number two.

Luckily, Cheryl still has some time to make this big decision. Being one of the longest lasting professional dancers on the show, it will be hard for Cheryl to give it up. On the other hand, she has already admitted that the competition takes a toll on her body season after season. Should she and Cody take home the Mirrorball Trophy during the finale, Cheryl may once again consider retiring prior to DWTS season 31.
