Blake Carrington is one of TV’s most fascinating antiheroes. The oil tycoon has appeared in both the original Dynasty series as well as the CW reboot. Blake is a ruthless businessman who would do anything to protect his interests, even if it’s illegal. As a result, he often finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

He often has disagreements with his children, though he loves them deeply. Blake also has multiple enemies, most of whom frequently make attempts to take him down but he always manages to come out on to. Here are a couple of other things you probably didn’t know about Blake Carrington.

10 He Is One Of Three Characters To Have Appeared In All Episodes Of The CW Series

Not every character gets to appear in every episode of the Dynasty reboot. Only three characters have been granted that luxury so far: Blake, Fallon, and Sammy.

Other characters tend to get mentioned in some episodes without physically appearing. Blake and Fallon are lead characters so they have to be present. However, Sammy is a supporting character. The show’s writers find him intriguing enough to include him in every single episode.

9 Lead Character

Speaking of appearances, Blake tends to be involved in nearly every proceeding but not as much as his daughter Fallon in the reboot. Fallon can be described as the primary lead character while Blake can be described as the secondary one.

Things were much different in the original series where Blake was the primary lead character. Fallon appeared a lot too but not as much as her father. Given how phenomenal Elizabeth Gilles has been in the role, the decision to make Fallon the star of the show as clearly a wise one.

8 Disagreements With Steven

Steven was initially believed to be Blake’s son but it turned out he was the son of Blake’s butler Anders. Apparently, Anders and Blake’s ex-wife Alexis had an affair. In both the original series and the reboot, Blake has had conflicts with Steven, that have been triggered by different reasons.

In the reboot, Blake isn’t too fond of Steven because he doesn’t have the same business acumen and ruthlessness that he and Fallon have. In the original, Blake’s conflict with Steven stems from his sexuality. He is homophobic hence he tends to be prejudiced towards Steven.

7 Birthday And Age

How old is Blake? He was born on February 6th, 1964. This makes him 56-years-old. This little detail was revealed in Season 3’s ninth episode titled “The Caviar, I Trust, Is Not Burned.” In the episode, Fallon unlocked Alexis’ safe where documents with details about Blake were seen.

The exact age of Blake in the original Dynasty series wasn’t known, though he was said to be a man in his fifties. There is a probability that the two versions are of the same age.

6 Romances

Blake has been romantically involved with six women during the Dynasty reboot run. First, there was Celia Machado, a former employee at Carrington Atlantic, who Blake ended up marrying. Unfortunately, she died. Blake also kissed Claudia Blaisdel, the manipulative woman who faked a car accident.

Blake also engaged in a one-night stand with Liam’s mother Laura Van Kirk. Finally, Blake has been romantically involved with his wife Cristal for most of the series. Cristal ended up cheating on him too with a preacher after she found out about his affairs.

5 Actor’s Real-Life Romance

Grant Snow, the actor who portrays Blake Carrington in the Dynasty reboot is married to colleague Katherine LaNasa who portrays Ada Stone. Grant and Katherine also starred together in Devious Maids.

Ada is a criminal mastermind who first appeared in the Season 3 episode “The Butler Did It.” She blackmailed Michael Culhane into working for her and threatened to frame Fallon for Max Van Kirk’s death if he refused. Michael thus had no choice but to cooperate with her as he sought a way out.

4 The Reason He Married Alexis

Blake’s marriage to Alexis wasn’t born out of love. Theirs was an arranged marriage. Blake’s family and that of Alexis wanted to have close ties so Alexis’ mother pressured her to marry Blake.

Blake’s father was also offering a huge amount of money and favor to Alexis’ parents. Hence the marriage had to take place whether the two liked it or not. Initially, they were happy but when their son Adam was kidnapped, they grew apart and eventually ended up getting a divorce.

3 Blake’s Father

Blake’s dad was called Thomas Carrington. He was the CEO of Carrington Atlantic before Blake took over. He was very hostile to his son as he believed he wasn’t managing the company properly. His behavior could be noted in the Season One episode “Rotten Things.”

Thomas was also racist and homophobic as evidenced by his behavior towards Sam and Cristal. He inherited Carrington Atlantic from Blake’s grandfather. He died later on in the first season.

2 Residence

In the reboot, Blake Carrington lives in an affluent neighborhood located on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia with his children. However, in the original series, he resided in Denver, Colorado. His company was even called Denver-Carrington and not Carrington Atlantic like in the reboot.

Both versions of the company deal in oil and have similar structures. The house that Blake lives in was also passed down to him from his father Tom who went to live elsewhere.

1 Involvement With Senator Paul Daniels

Senator Paul Daniels was seen in the Season One episode “Promises You Can’t Keep” where he was said to be Blake’s close friend. Paul also happens to be a former judge who accepted bribes from Blake and helped him get full custody of his children during his divorce case with Alexis.

He also helped Blake in setting up Jeff’s father Cecil Colby and sending him to prison for years. The senator was seen as highly dismissive to those beneath him. He assumed Sammy was a waiter and he also couldn’t tell the difference between a Mexican and a Venezuelan.
