Much like Blake Carrington and many other characters, Alexis can be pretty selfish and mean when it comes to getting what she wants. Late in the first season, when she first entered the show, she already was cunning and deceptive, and it seems like Fallon’s mistrust in her had solid foundations.

She does love her family, but she lies and deceives continuously and is mostly motivated by selfish and greedy reasons. Her presence is chaotic, her behavior inappropriate and rude, and she has no limits when it comes to getting the attention and treatment that she so desperately longs for.

10 Abandoning Her Children

After their divorce, Blake made sure he’d obtain custody of their children and lied to Fallon and Steven about the whole divorce process. However, Alexis did not have to leave completely, but she accepted Blake’s money to give up on her children and then disappeared from their lives for a very long time. Her abandonment caused a lot of trauma, especially to Fallon. Moreover, when she returned in the late first season of Dynasty, her first thought was money and inheriting the manor that Tom Carrington had left in her name, which she didn’t get.

9 Cheating on Blake

In the second season, the Carringtons learn one of the most shocking Alexis’ secrets: shortly after little Adam was kidnapped, she and Joseph Anders had an affair that gave life to Steven. She considers her mistake justifiable and understandable as if losing her son was the cause of her inappropriate behavior. However, they could’ve helped and supported each other, considering that she wasn’t the only one suffering the loss of a child. Moreover, hiding the true identity of Steven’s biological father caused him and the whole family a lot of pain and confusion.

8 Disregarding Fallon

Although they became closer at the end of season 2, Alexis has perhaps been more absent in her daughter’s life than her son’s. After she abandoned her children, Fallon was the one who suffered her absence the most. She almost seemed irrational compared to her brother, but the real reason he was so collaborative with Alexis was because he had been in touch with his mother the whole time.

What stopped Alexis from contacting Fallon as often, too? She loves her children, but she’s never ready to be honest and present when they need it the most.

7 Trying To Separate Steven And Sam

In season 1 episode 18, Steven and Sam were finally engaged and planning their wedding. Every character in the show supported them except for Alexis. Believing that Sam wasn’t a good fit for her son, she decided to find a way to prove that to Steven. She invited Sam to shop with her and tried to set him up for shoplifting, but Fallon eventually interfered with her plan. There was no reasonable motive why she wanted Sam out of the picture so badly, considering he had been kind and listening with her.

6 Hiring A Fake Adam

The CW‘s Alexis can be uncaring and capable of some devious stratagems when it comes to getting what she wants. To obtain the money she hired and slept with a con-actor, Hank Sullivan, to portray her missing son Adam Carrington. Blake softens up thanks to the arrival of his long-lost child, making it easier for Alexis to infiltrate in the family and, therefore, to achieve her goal successfully. She even allies with Jeff and Monica Colby and creates a plan that doesn’t do well for her ex-husband or children at all.

5 Blaming Kirby For Arson

It’s one of her most devious gestures, considering that Kirby Anders was just a child when the whole situation happened. Kirby is the majordomo’s daughter, who one day overheard her father Joseph talking to Alexis about their previous affair. She was very young and, therefore, didn’t understand much of the discussion. However, Alexis decided that Kirby had to get out of the picture to keep her affair a secret and, thus, framed her for the arson in Fallon’s room, sending her away to a psychiatric recovery center back in Australia.

4 Locking Cristal/Celia Up

In the last episode of season 1, during Steven and Sam’s marriage, Cristal confronts Alexis by exposing all of the deceptive plans she had executed since she arrived and by calling her out for being a bad mother.

Alexis couldn’t handle the truth, thus the two of them got into a violent fight, which ended when Alexis locked her inside of the building that was set on fire after Claudia shot Cristal. Alexis, therefore, contributed to her death and admitted that she’d do it again since she feels no remorse about it.

3 Causing Cristal Jennings’ Abortion

Alexis also is a troubled person, as we can see in the 13th episode of season 2 when she realized she lost everything: Blake, her money, the affection of her children. Overwhelmed by loneliness, she decided to commit suicide, thus wrote a goodbye note and grabbed a gun, however, her plans changed as soon as she saw Cristal horse riding with her ex-husband, Mark, and pulled the trigger in their direction. After the shot, the horse Cristal was riding went wild and started dragging her around the field until she lost consciousness and, eventually, her baby.

2 Marrying Jeff Colby

Jeff Colby was her nephew before her divorce from Blake Carrington, moreover, he almost married her daughter Fallon in season 1. Alexis does not seem to care that Jeff repeatedly slept with her daughter too, moreover, she’s also supposed to be more of an aunt figure to Jeff and Monica like she used to be in their childhood. In season 3, they could be getting married in the name of an alliance, but that wouldn’t make it less dysfunctional, especially considering that she participated in raising the Colbys when their parents weren’t there.

1 Committing A Murder

On the day she lost reason and fired a gun towards Cristal, causing her abortion, she also killed an innocent man. The Carringtons somehow got used to the drama and became experts at hurting each other, but Mark Jennings, despite his flaws, was a good man who was trying to save Cristal from Blake. He wasn’t even wrong, considering how quickly her life started escalating after that event. Alexis’ lack of consciousness when she kills an innocent person was the most obvious proof of how selfish and without scruples she can be.
