The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon puts a fun spin on WandaVision with its own parody featuring Elizabeth Olsen. People’s interest in Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series is at an all-time high ahead of its finale. Following a slow-burn start, the show has picked up over the last several weeks, gradually revealing what’s really happening in the Maximoff Anomaly. In its penultimate episode titled “Previously On,” it finally unveiled how exactly Wanda created the hex by tackling her pent up grief. This stems from the death of her parents in Sokovia when she was just 10 to realizing that Vision is really gone and they have no chance of a future together.

Amidst all this, WandaVision also unmasked its true villain, Agatha Harkness, who apparently has been trying to get Wanda out of her trance for weeks now. Wanting to learn exactly how her fellow witch created the hex and mind-controlled the people of Westview, Agnes forced Wanda’s trip down memory lane which also revealed additional information about the origins of her powers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the end, Agatha dubbed Wanda the Scarlet Witch — the first time the hero has ever been called that on the screen since she debuted in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

As WandaVision comes to a close, its cast is making the final promotional push, with Olsen appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On top of the traditional interview, she and Fallon parodied the series by tackling the past decades of the late-night talk show, and like in WandaVision, not everything is what it seems, with Olsen’s co-star Kathryn Hahn putting in an appearance as well. The whole bit is well-made, to say the least, with Olsen giving a brilliant performance the same way she does in WandaVision despite the fact it’s just for fun. She could’ve phoned it in, but in the subsequent interview, even Fallon says they were impressed with the great lengths Olsen went to for the skit. What made it more impressive is the fact it was done via video call. Of course, the surprise appearance from Hahn with her now-signature wink plus WandaVision‘s “Agatha All Along” playing in the background was really fun to see as well.

While it’s nothing but an amusing skit, the part where Olsen attempts to get Fallon out of the fantasy world he’s living in could be an indication of what’s to come in the final episode of WandaVision. Amidst all the sorcery and superhero elements in the Disney+ series, the core of its narrative has always been Wanda’s grief and her attempt to run from it. At this point, anything can happen in WandaVision, but hopefully the focus remains on that in the final episode.
