She might be best known for playing Elektra on Netflix’s Daredevil series but here’s where else you may have seen Élodie Yung. The French-Cambodian actress made her acting debut in French TV drama La Vie Devant Nous in 2002, and soon scored her first lead in the parkour based action film The Great Challenge in 2004. Élodie Yung seemed somewhat destined for a career in action films as she holds a black belt in karate in real life and in addition to appearing in the 2008 family comedy Home Sweet Home she made an impression with a memorable supporting turn in sequel District 13: Ultimatum as gang leader Tao.

Élodie Yung moved into American films starting with a small role as one of Lizbeth Salander’s lovers in David Fincher’s 2011 adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. She later got to show off her action credentials again in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation as Jinx, and while the character doesn’t get a ton of screentime, she takes part in the most impressive setpiece where she and Snake Eyes battle ninjas on the side of a mountain.

After co-starring in UK drama Still in 2014 and co-starring with Evan Rachel Wood in the never released romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About Life, Élodie Yung made her debut as Elektra in season 2 of Daredevil. She’s more than the equal of Matt Murdock and alongside Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher, she proved to be one of the highlights of the season.

Élodie Yung later returned as Elektra in The Defenders, Netflix’s big MCU crossover event between Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones. While there are no current plans for a revival of this shared universe, Yung has stated she’s more than open to a return as the character. During this time she also played a major role in would-be blockbuster Gods Of Egypt alongside Gerard Butler and voiced the character of Olivia Durant in Call Of Duty: WWII’s Nazi Zombie mode.

In 2017 Élodie Yung co-starred with Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds in action comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard, where she played the Interpol Agent love interest of the latter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear her character will return for upcoming sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. Upcoming projects for the actress including playing the part of Queen Catherine in Disney+ movie Secret Society Of Second Born Royals and she will front Fox drama pilot The Cleaning Lady – replacing Shannyn Sossamon in the title role – in addition to co-starring with Anthony Mackie in heist film The Blue Mauritius.
