Here’s where you’ll recognize the cast from Netflix series Emily in Paris. While the series explores Lily Collins’ lead character Emily’s outsider status in Paris, some of the show’s actors had the opposite experience and will be known to audiences.

The new show sees bright-eyed protagonist Emily Cooper navigating her way through Paris and the French (social) language and often getting lost in translation. The story takes in Emily’s struggles to find success in her unexpected but dream job opportunity in a French marketing firm while searching for love. Created by Sex & the City creator Darren Star, the culture clash romantic comedy series has attracted positive reviews for its breezy charm, even if it lacks depth, though some criticism for its heavy use of French clichés.

Emily In Paris stars a transatlantic cast that includes actors from fan favorites including The Umbrella Academy, Gossip Girl, and The Mortal InstrumentsThe Netflix show features familiar faces and rising stars from both sides of the Atlantic, as well as actors straying from their usual roles on Broadway or in French cinema. While many names on the following list may not be recognizable to an American audience, some have appeared in some of the most popular series on television.

Lily Collins as Emily

Emily Cooper isn’t Lily Collins’ first iconic role: The British-American actor played Snow White in Mirror Mirror and beloved protagonist Clary Fray in the adaptations of The Mortal Instruments series. The strong-browed daughter of musician Phil Collins has been acting since 2009, first appearing as Sandra Bullock’s character’s teenage daughter in The Blind Side. Emily in Paris isn’t Collins’ first romantic comedy, either, as she also starred in rom-coms Love, Rosie, and Stuck in Love.

Kate Walsh as Madeleine

Madeleine – Emily’s pregnant boss in Chicago – is played by Kate Walsh, who has appeared in multiple popular Netflix originals. She may be best known for her roles as grieving mother Olivia Baker in 13 Reasons Why and The Handler in The Umbrella Academy. She also played Charlie’s mother in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and stripper/widow Gina Hess in the first season of Fargo.

Ashley Park as Mindy Chen

Emily’s fellow American-in-Paris, Mindy Chen, is played by Tony-nominated theater actor Ashley Park. Park made her Broadway debut in Mamma Mia!, and went on to play Ani Winter in 2019 TV series Tales of the City.

Emily In Paris’ French Faces

William Abadie as Antoine. Emily’s colleague Antoine Lambert has a connection to the original Sex & the City: He played minor character Tony in a season 6 episode. In Gossip Girl, he played Roman, the French model Blair’s father left her mother for. More recently, he played Mira Berenson’s fake friend Alan Bernard in Homeland.

Samuel Arnold as Julien. Emily’s flippant co-worker, Julien, has natural star power – but this is only Samuel Arnold’s fourth onscreen role. The French actor made a name for himself in theater, playing Supernumeraries in National Theatre Live’s Antony and Cleopatra.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie. Emily’s stone-cold boss Sylvie is portrayed by seasoned star Phillippine Leroy-Beaulieu. Leroy-Beaulieu has been acting since the early 1980s, appearing in French films 3 hommes et un couffin and Natalia.

Lucas Bravo as Gabriel. Lucas Bravo – who plays Emily’s flirty neighbor, Gabriel – has also primarily appeared in the French cinema scene. His filmography includes a couple of TV series, sexy French film La creme de la creme, and several short films, including Cracs and Caprice.

Camille Razat as Camille. Camille Razat shares a name with her Emily in Paris character. In 2018, Razat appeared in (Girl)Friend and as a train attendant in Clint Eastwood’s The 15:17 to Paris

Bruno Goehry as Luc. Emily’s wild-haired, insightful colleague Luc is played by Bruno Goehry. Goehry has been acting since 2010, appearing in several films and the French version of TV series Doc Martin

Jean Christophe-Bouvet as Pierre Caldaut. Emily’s French fashion client Roman is played by Yohan Levy, a French acting legend who has appeared in a movie almost every year since 1971. Most of these movies have been French, with the (sort of) exception of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette

Frédéric Anscombre as Michel. Frédéric Anscombre has been acting for two decades, notably appearing in movies Love and Other Disasters, No Limit, and Overdrive.
