Netflix’s Emily In Paris is 10 episodes of lighthearted escapism, where Emily Cooper takes on Paris with her positive attitude and a passion for change, even if her coworkers disagree with her. The show takes its audience to the best spots in Paris, all while showing off amazing fashion and a lot of drama from its characters.

Emily experiences the best of french culture, food, and romance, and the audience is taken along on the ride. While it’s a fun series, it’s had its ups and downs and though it’s definitely not perfect, some episodes are better than others.

10 Emily In Paris (Episode 1) – 7.1

In the opening episode, Emily finds out she gets to leave everything behind and go to Paris. Her coworkers don’t like her very much, mainly because she doesn’t speak a word of french. It’s a good start to the series although things start to happen very quickly. Within the space of 10 minutes, she’s already arrived in her apartment in Paris and she’s already being judged by everyone around her.

9 Masculin Féminin (Episode 2) – 7.5

In the second episode, Emily and her boyfriend break up so fast it’s as if they were never together in the first place. She is now a single woman in Paris she definitely takes advantage of it. The series is still at a slow pace in episode 2, but Sylvie is starting to make Emily’s life a little harder, and it’s a fun dynamic to see play out.

8 An American Auction In Paris (Episode 9) – 7.5

At this point, things are starting to build between Emily and Mathieu, and the team at Savoir plans an auction that will be held at the Louvre. Things hit a low for the season when Grey Space, an artistic duo, uses Emily as a publicity stunt that humiliates her and Pierre. It’s not the most engaging episode of the show, and the whole Grey Space subplot feels a bit outlandish.

7 Ringarde (Episode 6) – 7.5

Ringarde is a term that is used a lot from this point on in the series, where Emily, Julien, and Sylvie meet fashion designer Pierre Cadeau and he is less than impressed with Emily’s fashion choices and decides to call her basic.

Her co-workers are hilariously horrified by the situation and it’s a very funny episode where we once again get to see Emily use a bad situation to her advantage which she does so well.

6 Sexy Or Sexist (Episode 3) – 7.7

Emily In Paris really starts to gain momentum after the third episode, where Emily questions whether an advert that Antoine is producing the sexy or just plain sexist. It’s a pretty relevant conversation for the current societal climate, but it also forces them to look from different perspectives. Ultimately, Emily manages to turn the whole argument into a social media campaign instead.

5 Faux Amis (Episode 5)- 7.7

In this episode, Emily gets invited to an influencer lunch because of her ever-growing Instagram account, except the company is an enemy of Savoir. At the halfway point of the series, Emily has trouble coming to terms with the fact that Gabriel’s girlfriend Camille is actually a really good person. She acts as a bit of a third wheel on their date, and while it’s cute it’s also quite awkward considering the fact that she definitely has a crush on Gabriel and is devastated by the fact he’s taken.

4 French Ending (Episode 7) – 7.7

French Ending is a pretty solid episode where a lot happens. Emily is tasked with looking after Brooklyn Clark, an American actress who ends up being much more chaotic than she might think at first. It’s also where Emily meets the handsome Mathieu Cadeau and things heat up between her and Gabriel. A lot is at stake for Emily’s career in this episode and it’s really the first time things start to mess up for her.

3 Family Affair (Episode 8) – 7.9

This is one of the funniest episodes of the series by far. Emily, Camille, and Gabriel go on a trip together to see Camille’s family and make a business deal. It’s super awkward since there is tension between Emily and Gabriel that Camille doesn’t know about.

Emily ends up sleeping with Camille’s brother, although at that point she doesn’t know that Camille has more than one brother and that she slept with her much younger brother. There’s a lot of embarrassment but it’s a genuinely funny episode to watch.

2 A Kiss Is Just A Kiss (Episode 4) – 7.9

This episode is important because it’s where we finally meet Camille. She and Emily become good friends very fast and then she finds out the unfortunate information that Camille is actually Gabriel’s girlfriend. This is obviously a shock to Emily and it’s one of the first plot twists of the series, making it one of the strongest episodes.

1 Cancel Couture (Episode 10) – 8.1

Things come to a dramatic conclusion in the season finale of Emily In Paris. Emily manages to save her career when Pierre Cadeau cancels his fashion show, only to create a completely new line inspired by her. The season finale is by far the strongest episode of the series with Gabriel leaving and then not leaving, and it also ends on a pretty great cliffhanger.
