Emily in Paris: Season 3 Best Fan Theories, According to Reddit

Netflix’s Emily in Paris season 2 followed much of the storyline of season 1 with Emily failing to avoid a love triangle with Camille and Gabriel. Season 3 may bring something completely different or keep the love triangle alive.

Reddit users have explored the possibilities and have come up with a variety of convincing theories that range from predictable to completely unexpected. Either way, Season 3 can’t come fast enough for these loyal fans on Reddit.

Mindy is Successful, Emily Does Long-Distance

Reddit user @brkon’s theory includes a new future for Mindy. This theory predicts that Mindy’s band will become wildly successful and that the show will introduce her rich family who will finally accept her new life. On Emily’s side, she will decide to stay in Paris to work for Sylvie and continue to date Alfie long-distance to try and get over Gabriel.

Eventually, Alfie, one of the show’s best new characters, will “notice that he’s still in a love triangle and make Emily choose between him and Gabriel once and for all.” They will break up but Emily and Gabriel will still not be together at the end of the season. This theory sounds very realistic based on Emily’s track record but would be frustrating to watch because it will mean that Emily has not grown up or matured. Character growth may be more exciting and satisfying for fans!

Emily and Gabriel Go For It But Alfie is Endgame

Reddit user @Resident-Success5315 predicts that Emily will go home to Chicago at the beginning of the season but realize how much her life has changed and how much she still wants to be in Paris. She will return, and try long-distance with Alfie but it will not work out.

Then @Resident-Success5315 says, “Chemistry is still there with Gabriel so they [will] actually follow through this time, ditch Camille and try out a relationship.” Many fans are interested to see what these two look like when they are monogamous, however, later in the season, Alfie will be reassigned to Paris and renew complications between Emily and Gabriel. Ultimately, Alfie and Emily will get back together and be endgame. This theory gives Emily closure to finally move on from Gabriel and commit to someone else.

Emily in London

Reddit user @eaudeamber has played with the idea of Emily relocating to London to continue dating Alfie. There is speculation that Kim Catrall’s character Samantha from Sex in the City will join the cast and meet Emily in London. She could potentially be Emily’s new boss at the Gilbert Group’s new London branch or an independent PR firm.

Some of the characters from Paris could also follow to London, like Mindy who can be a pop star anywhere! With Mindy’s unforgettable quotes, it is unlikely they would leave her behind. @eaudeamber says, “Getting to see new European cities and meet new characters would keep the show fresh and interesting.”

Emily Stays with Madeline

Although Madeline seemed to pregnant to fly, her surprise visit to Saviour in season 2 changed the course of Emily’s work-life. Reddit user @lydocia suggests that “Emily will decide to return to Chicago with Madeline after getting her heart broken by Gabriel and Camille.” Once back in Chicago, the Gilbert group will promote Emily to head of the office in Paris and she will return as a rival to Sylvie’s new firm.

This theory believes that Gregory Dupree will decide to stay with Emily and Pierre Cadault will stay with Sylvie making for a fashion marketing rivalry. Camille’s parents will decide to stay with Emily’s firm, keeping Camille and Gabriel in the picture. This theory is totally different than what most fans expect and could be fun to watch!

Emily’s Work Romance Mistakes Come Out

This theory also has Emily staying to work with Madeline in Paris. However, Reddit user @susisukikuu suggests that she “will quickly get fed up with the tasks” she is asked to do and “Camille will reveal Emily’s own mistakes in regards to client relations.”

Madeline will consider these missteps to be similar to Sylvie’s and fire her causing Emily to leave Paris and return to Chicago. At this point, Gabriel will find out what Camille has done and break up with her. He will then ask Sylvie to rehire Emily. Emily will return and stay with Gabriel to live happily ever after in Paris.

The End of the Love Triangle

Reddit user @vieilleame Emily will decide to take the job with Sylvie and commit to staying in Paris indefinitely. With a promotion and longer timeline, Emily and Mindy will move into a fabulous new apartment together. Based on their quirky fashion, it would be fun to see how they decide to decorate! This will give them space from Camille and Gabriel and remove Emily from the love triangle. Many fans would be overly relieved to see this.

@vieilleame says, “This will free up Emily to explore life in Paris without Gabriel’s looming presence, which will be fun to see.” Camille and Gabriel will end their relationship towards the end of the season. Gabriel will try to renew things with Emily again, who will at this point have moved on. This theory could be very refreshing to see onscreen and show that Emily has finally grown up and is making decisions for herself.

Everything Works Out Perfectly

This is a Schitt’s Creek-series-finale-level ending where all of the characters grow up and become good people. Reddit user @OneAssumption9603 predicts that Madeline and Saviour will disappear from the storyline completely. Gabriel and Camille, one of the show’s best couples, “are happily ever after and we barely see them except for a random wave in the park.” Emily will decide to end things with Alfie and go to therapy. This will enable her to grow up and take responsibility for herself and her actions.

She will also become fluent in French. Antoine will introduce her to a successful nephew and she will finally have a mature relationship. Emily will decide to join Sylvie’s new firm which will become wildly successful and bring a new level of fashion and luxury. This theory may not be realistic based on the tone of the show but it is pretty happy and satisfying!
