The rising success of Disney’s Encanto has been extraordinary, as the tale of the Madrigal family and the powers they shared were both inspiring and eye-catching. However, as catchy as the songs and as beautiful as the scenes were, fans couldn’t help but want to see more.

After watching Encanto, fans on Reddit noticed plenty of Easter eggs sprinkled throughout, but what they wanted more was a deeper explanation of things not shown. From the powers of the Madrigal family to a song for Bruno, fans went to Reddit to voice what the movie should have included.

If Only Encanto Showed What The Other Rooms Looked Like

There were a few Encanto character details that fans didn’t notice on their first rewatch, like all of the magic hiding inside Antonio’s room. In Encanto, once a family member is given their power, their bedrooms transform into a magical portal that connects to their gift.

Since Antonio could speak to animals, his room was transported into a whimsical jungle. But what about the other characters’ rooms? Zelda171819 asked Reddit, “What do you think Luisa, Dolores, Camilo, Pepa, and Juliet’s rooms look like?” Redditors theorized what their rooms looked like but they’ll never know because the rooms were never shown.

Bruno Should Have Had A Bigger Confrontation With Alma

It’s an unpopular opinion to agree with Abuela Alma’s treatment of her family members. This is especially true for those without powers (Mirabel) or those with dark powers (Bruno).

Since Alma and the family shunned Bruno for his gift of being psychic and seeing dark visions, Bruno left without a trace. By the end of the movie, Bruno showed his face for the first time in years to support Mirabel against the family. Instead of speaking his truth against his mom, the two embraced and that was it. Nothing was said about his disappearance or the disdain she had for him. SarcasticHamSandwich told Reddit, “I wish Bruno had a more impactful confrontation with his mom.”

Bruno Deserved A Song

The musical numbers in Encanto were extraordinary and some of the best parts of the film. Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabela were all given their own songs to describe their lives and the baggage they carry.

There was a song (“We Don’t Talk About Bruno”) that included most of the family members describing what Mirabel’s Uncle Bruno was like. Unknowingly, Bruno became one of the most important characters in the film after Mirabel found him, but he didn’t get his own song. PrincessAintPeachy wrote, “I honestly wished Bruno had a song. About how despite he can also see good things in people’s futures, people only focused on the bad.” Hearing Bruno’s take on his life through song was a missed opportunity.

A Deeper Look At The Relationships Between The Cousins

The Madrigal family tree is complex at first. Alma had three children: Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Julieta went on to have three daughters: Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel. Pepa went on to have three children as well: Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio. With six cousins in the family, Casita was a busy household.

With so many characters, HatefulOne851 wrote, “I felt there was so much to explore with showing more of the relationship with the cousins, the three siblings, and other members of the family.” Redditors agreed that they wished they saw the development of those bonds.

Dolores’ True Feelings

Dolores Madrigal was given the power of enhanced hearing. With such a gift, Dolores knew what was happening inside Casita and around town — even if she didn’t want to.

In her verse for “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” it alluded that Dolores was in love with Isabela’s potential fiancé, Mariano. Seeroftarot wished they learned more about Dolores’ feelings. “I wanted her to have a song about hearing the man she loves write poetry and songs, but losing him to her cousin,” they wrote. And while it looked like Dolores and Mariano hit it off at the end of the movie, fans wanted to know more about her feelings on the situation between Isabela and her crush.

A Look At Antonio And Mirabel’s Bond

At the beginning of Encanto, viewers learned that Mirabel slept in the nursery since she didn’t have powers. This meant she shared the room with her young cousin Antonio. With Mirabel and Antonio sharing a room, the two were incredibly close. They were so close that Antonio didn’t want to learn about his power without Mirabel.

AllamandaBelle wrote, “[I] just wish Antonio played a bigger role given he was shown to be close with Mirabel.” Despite their age difference, these two were close. A look at their bond was missed.

An In-Depth Look At Each Characters’ Powers

Once viewers learned more about the Madrigal family through song, the Encanto characters became more likable. Viewers learned that there’s more to this family than what’s on the surface.

Although Mirabel described the powers her family had through song, some felt like it wasn’t dissected enough. Azushin continued this thought, writing, “They didn’t explain the powers properly. I know it shouldn’t be the focus, but d*mn, it don’t [sic] make no sense.” The Redditor wanted to learn more about Camilo’s weaknesses as a shapeshifter and if Dolores could turn her hearing off.

Bruno’s Life Living Alone Within Casita’s Walls

There are a lot of theories on how Bruno spent his days inside Casita’s walls while being abandoned by his family, but viewers never found out in-depth what life was like for him. It was heartbreaking to hear that he ate dinner on the other side of the kitchen wall to feel close to them, and fans wanted to hear more about this.

FawnWoodsStudios wrote this regarding Bruno’s plot, “I like the rat thing and I wish it got more explanation, and I like how it showed he was superstitious and lonely and the plate thing — I love that. But again it’s feel short, there was so much more I was wishing for and just never got.”

What Happens To Mirabel After Everything?

Fans are dying to know what happened to the Madrigals and Casita after the movie ended. A look in the future after the movie’s ending would have been helpful for viewers who wondered where Mirabel ended up.

StellaFreya wrote, “I also want to know what happens to Mirabel after everything. Is she still in the nursery? Did she get her own room?” The desire to know what became of Mirabel and Bruno, in particular, is strong with fans.

An Apology For Bruno

At the end of Encanto, Bruno had the intelligence to leave Casita’s walls and followed Mirabel when she ran away. When Alma and the rest of the Madrigals saw Bruno for the first time, they embraced him and acted like the things they did and said in the past never happened.

Bruno apologized for the role he had in the family’s rift, but SilverInkBlotV2 was bothered that no one apologized for their part. “It bothers me that Bruno was the one giving out apologies when he reunited with his family. He’s precious and didn’t do anything wrong, they should be apologizing to him for treating him like a bad omen,” they wrote.
