Endzone: A World Apart is a post-apocalyptic city builder game set in a world. The player is expected to take care of basic needs, confidence, and health of the settlers as the player attempts to build the settlement into a prosperous colony. To that end, it is likely the player will use farming as one of their primary means of supplying the colony with food.

These farms and orchards are able to grow a variety of food-based on which seeds are planted, ranging from apricots to potatoes. But the player only starts with a handful of seed types that are seemingly selected at random. With some plant varieties taking several seasons to grow or not producing that much food, some players will understandably want to find new crop types in order to better sustain their colony. Others may just want to find seeds like hemp and wheat in order to produce certain consumables at their pubs. Thankfully, the game now has two main methods for acquiring new seed types.

Explore Greenhouses in Endzone: A World Apart

One means of acquiring new seed types is to have explorers search for them. Build an expedition station and instruct a scout to explore any ruin that looks like a greenhouse. These greenhouse ruins tend to have seeds, herbs, and occasionally scrap in their structures. Just be sure to follow the scout’s ruin recommendations and ensure that the exploration team has at least one experienced farmer in their ranks.

But keep in mind that finding seeds in these ruins isn’t a guarantee. If one greenhouse ruin doesn’t have any seeds, then the player should repeat the process with another greenhouse ruin until they find what they are looking for.

Complete a Certain Side Mission in Endzone: A World Apart

The second means of acquiring new seed types is by completing the “An Unexpected Opportunity” side mission. This mission, like all other side missions, will be offered to the player at random by one of their settlers. They will mention how the game population has been unusually high and how they should take advantage of it. Accept the mission and ensure that the colony has at least one hunter’s cabin built and that the cabin has a few settlers assigned to it so they can begin hunting.

Once the hunters collect enough meat, they will note how some settlers have found a few interesting things inside of the animals’ intestines. But they need to find an undigested specimen. Assign a few settlers to begin collecting herbs and eventually a settler will find a seed that the colony may be able to use. But they want to build an irrigation system first. Build it and the mission should be completed and reward the player with an additional seed type.

Endzone: A World Apart is available as an early access game on PC through Steam and GOG.
