Portrayed by Angus Cloud, Fezco AKA Fez is one of the leads in the HBO drama series Euphoria. While the rest of the show’s ensemble seems to have their own insecurities and instabilities, Fez is a relatively calmer character. Even though he sells drugs for a living, Fez might be one of the kindest and most mature Euphoria characters.

His quotes reflect his laid-back personality, lazily delivered in Cloud’s drawly voice. From being dramatic to simply funny, Fez’s dialogues are quite memorable in the first season and its ongoing follow-up. At the same time, the character’s internal struggles can also be understood through these quotes.

When He Threatened Nate

“Listen, Man, I’m Sayin’ You Keep F****** With Rue And Her Friends, I’mma Kill You.”

Nate Jacobs has done some of the worst things in Euphoria. So, when he bothers Rue and Jules, Fez comes to the rescue and plans to let him off with a warning. Unfazed by Fez’s threats, Nate continues to mock the drug-dealers intelligence and past.

However, Fez stands his ground and looks Nate straight in the eye, threatening to even kill him. This is one of the few times when audiences see an angrier side of Fez. A full circle is achieved when Fez actually unleashes his anger physically in the next season.

When He First Met Ashtray

“Sup?”

Fez isn’t a man of many words. And be it a friend, enemy, or even a stranger, he always greets them with a lazy “sup”. As the first episode of the sophomore season reveals, Fez was always this calm no matter what the issue is. In a flashback sequence, a pre-pubescent Fez finds a baby crawling in his drug-dealing grandmother’s house.

Not caring to know about the baby’s origins, Fez just replies with his customary “sup”. This simple greeting is crucial as the baby is introduced as his adoptive brother Ashtray. The quote perfectly sums up the character’s personality as he is unaffected by Ashtray’s sudden presence.

When He Rejects Rue’s Business Offer

“Hell The F*** No”

As Rue’s addiction worsens in the second season, she tries to offer a sales pitch to Fez. She is ready to work as an intermediary, obtaining drugs from Fez and selling it to others in her high school. But Fez isn’t that naive.

Sitting on a kitchen counter, he looks right through her and knows that she might just “get high on her own supply”. So, he simply rejects her offer by mumbling “Hell the f*** no”, a phrase that he keeps on repeating until Rue leaves. This quote shows how Fez continues caring for Rue despite her constant struggles with addiction.

When He Tried Convincing Rue To Quit Drugs

“I Don’t Know How To Help But I Can Tell You One Thing. This Drug S***, It’s Not The Answer.”

Fez doesn’t barge into other people’s business but he still cares a lot for his close friends. So, when he bumps into Rue at a party, he tries to tell her that drugs won’t save her from the pain that she is going through. Even though they might not talk much, Rue and Fez do make for one of the major friendships on Euphoria

Fez’s lines seem ironic given how he himself sells drugs. At the same time, he is well aware of his product’s destructive nature and he doesn’t want Rue to suffer the same fatal fate that his other customers have gone through. Despite offering his advice, Fez doesn’t sound too patronizing and the dialogues only bring out his friendly concern.

When He Expressed His Friendship With Rue

“As Your Friend, I Got You.”

Fez can sometimes be quite parental towards Rue, even fondly referring to her as “kid”. As this quote shows, Fez is ready to go to any extent to help Rue in her journey to sobriety. In one of their usual party encounters, Rue apologizes to Fez for being a constant burden.

Rue also thanks him further for not selling her any drugs lately, a promise that Fez has upheld even in the second season. As they seek solace in their unusual friendship, Fez assures her that he has got her back no matter what.

When He Confronted Cal

“You’re Confused? I’m F****** Confused, Bro.”

Just like Nate, his father Cal is one of Euphoria‘s biggest villains and a constant obstacle in Fez’s life. Angered by Fez’s violent outburst at his son, Cal drives down to Fez’s place only to be caught by Ashtray. The latter ties him on a chair and holds a shotgun next to his head. The scene induces anxiety at the start but then turns humorous, thanks to Fez’s reactions and dialogues.

When Cal reveals that he slept with Jules, Fez points out that Nate has romantic feelings for Jules. Cal mumbles, “I’m confused” to which Fez mumbles back that he is also confused. Fez’s frustration is quite visible as he is unnecessarily dragged into this family drama without himself being at fault.

When Rue Annoyed Him

“Why You Actin’ Like That Sh** Was Fun, Rue? For Real. You’re Pissin’ Me Off.”

Fez is rarely the one to get angry at others, but Rue can test his patience. After a drug deal gone bust, Rue raps out a Tupac song and marvels at the confident personality of the drug dealer Laurie. On the other hand, Fez is still scarred from the experience as he and Rue were stripped naked and held at gunpoint.

Driving back home, Rue doesn’t stop talking about the “fun” she had. This naturally prompts Fez to lose his cool. It is in such moments that audiences realize even the usually calm and meditative Fez can be frustrated.

When He Didn’t Sell Drugs To Rue

“I’m Not Gonna Help You Kill yourself, Rue. I’m Sorry, But, You Can’t Be Coming Over Here No More. Just Go Home.”

When Rue’s drug addiction reaches a breaking point, she shows up at Nate’s doorstep asking for pills. While Fez is always the one to help, he takes a step back and refuses to fuel any of Rue’s self-destructive tendencies. This is the first time viewers see Fez losing his temper at Rue. Here too, the anger comes out of sheer concern.

The quote makes for one of the most emotional scenes on Euphoria as it is followed by Fez’s silence. Meanwhile, Rue continues shouting that Fez is a hypocrite for himself getting people into drugs. Even Fez’s silent embarrassment speaks volumes.

When He Effortlessly Appreciated Lexi

“I Just Wanna Tell You That Talking To You Was One Of The Best Parts Of My Whole Year.”

The opening episode of the second season offered viewers an unexpected romance. At a New Year’s party, the introverted Lexi happens to sit on the same couch as Fez, who too is a man of few words. The ensuing conversation is quite interesting as Lexi educates Fez about the pagan origins of Christmas and questions his morals as a drug dealer.

Fez is visibly impressed and even goes on to say that talking to her was one of the year’s major highlights. If any other character delivered these lines, it would have come off as mere flirting. But Fez does sound genuine as he says it. This scene alone leaves room for a future where the two characters can have bestie potential or even end up dating each other.

When He Got His Revenge On Nate

“Happy New Year, Playboy”

In the first season, Fez had warned Nate to back off from Rue and Jules’ life. True to his evil nature, Nate ended up calling the cops on Fez instead. Facing a loss in business, as a result, Fez naturally vows revenge. However, more than his own loss, Fez is also pissed off with Nate for blackmailing Jules whom he treats as a good friend.

Seeing Nate grinning at a New Year’s party annoys Fez further. After just greeting him, Fez strikes Nate with a glass bottle and then gives him the beating of a lifetime. The violence succeeding “Happy New Year, playboy” makes for one of the most memorable scenes (and satisfying for all the “Nate-haters”) in the new season.
