When Taylor Swift said there was “not a lot going on at the moment,” there was, in fact, a great deal going on at the moment. Between the re-records of her discography and the release of another cottagecore quarantine album, Evermore, it was a big Swift season. Of course, it was also enchanting when she dropped a surprise Disney+ concert documentary of her, Aaron Dessner, and Jack Antonoff performing Folklore at the Long Pond Studio.

Immediately after Evermore, speculation was rampant that Swift would release another Disney doc of her and the gang performing another stellar album live. If this does come to be, she’d likely perform the album in its entirety again. However, these ten songs from the new album would definitely be the best to hear performed live.

10 Happiness

So much of Folklore saw Taylor Swift reckoning with the “stolen lullabies” saga of her old songs, shamelessly hoarded by Scooter Braun. However, “Happiness,” from Evermore, seems to bring Swift the closest she’s been to truly accepting the fallout of betrayal over her masters.

Considering how hard “My Tears Ricochet” and “Hoax” hit when performed for Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, it would be equally riveting to hear “Happiness” live as Swift grows closer to peace on those devastating acts.

9 Coney Island

One of the big surprises of 2020 (and certainly for Aaron Dessner, too) has been this installation of Dessner as a brand new muse of Swift’s. The collaboration between her and the sounds of The National is just so perfect.

It would be awesome to see the zenith of those collaborations performed live, too. Dessner is clearly so moved by the music in the Folklore documentary, but bringing in Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger of The National would really take it to the next level.

8 Willow

Taylor Swift has often been criticized for her choice of singles over the course of her career. But between Folklore‘s lead single, “Cardigan,” and Evermore‘s first track, “Willow,” she’s picking some true bangers. “Willow” is a deeply fun song that is infectious in its love and enthusiasm.

Considering that it’s also the first track on the album, it would be a fun way to set the tempo for the rest of the concert documentary. For now, it’ll be enough to revel in the impeccable music video for the song.

7 Tolerate It

To show just how experimental she was being on Evermore, Swift performed two songs in the unconventional, somewhat pop-unfriendly time signatures of 5/4. While “Closure” would certainly be welcomed to be heard live, “Tolerate It” is the other 5/4 song that would knock the socks off any viewers.

For one, it’s a famed track five on the album, which is a Swift specialty. For another, it contains ethereal vocalizations that evoke the most beautifully soaring moments of “This Is Me Trying.” This must be astounding when played live.

6 Ivy

There is something special about the collaborations on these two albums between Swift, Antonoff, and Dessner all together. “Betty” pulled it off brilliantly and “Ivy” was another clear standout track on the glorious Evermore album.

There’s such a love of music between these three and it really shines when they’re performing songs that came from each of them. Obviously, they’re all so capable and so talented when it comes to any song, but it’s super special to see three different musical genius minds connect.

5 Champagne Problems

William Bowery returned for Evermore, of course, in the form of the album’s title track and this song, “Champagne Problems.” Famously, “Champagne Problems” features a double, altered chorus from Swift in the song’s climax and this would be remarkable to hear performed life.

However, it also contains just a stunning melody. Bowery is clearly a melodic genius, as his rhythm combines with Swift’s patented hooks to craft a beautiful song. As one of the best melodies in the history of Swift, “Champagne Problems” would be a welcome performance on Disney+.

4 No Body, No Crime

Is there any chance Swift could wrangle a cameo appearance from Haim on Disney+? It would have to happen because “No Body, No Crime” is such a jam and it wouldn’t be the same without Este, Danielle, and Alana.

Clearly, Swift can shine when paired with any sort of musician or genre and this murder anthem would be no different. It would be great to hear “No Body, No Crime,” but some additional context from Swift on the song’s creation would also be most welcome.

3 ‘Tis The Damn Season

It almost seems effortless how Swift managed to conjure up an all-time great modern Christmas song on Evermore. “‘Tis the Damn Season,” tells the story of a woman (likely from “Dorothea,” even if the “Back to December” ten years later theories are delightful) returning to her hometown over the holidays and hooking up with an ex.

It seems like “‘Tis the Damn Season” might just be the best damn song on the entire album. It’s no wonder it’d be delightful to hear performed live. A perfect bridge, a magical chorus, poetic lyrics. It’s everything a person could want in a Swift tune.

2 Gold Rush

There’s just something special in the air whenever Swift collaborates directly with Antonoff. That’s how the world got “Getaway Car,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “Cruel Summer,” “August,” and so many more. On Evermore, the latest entry in this flawless catalog was “Gold Rush.”

Simulating almost a dreamscape-esque setting that evokes swimming pools and the late-1840s, “Gold Rush” is a must-hear live. Considering how little Swift’s voice was actually produced on the fantastical-sounding “Mirrorball,” it would be undoubtedly remarkable to see what she could pull off live with “Gold Rush.”

1 Evermore

“August” might be the best song in Swift history, never mind just on Folklore. However, the best performance on the streaming service from the Long Pond documentary was unquestionably the duet between Swift and Bon Iver on “Exile.” It’s just remarkable music and it can send goosebumps through the body endlessly.

While “Evermore” didn’t hit as hard as “Exile” on the first listen of Evermore, it stands to reason that a live performance of “Evermore” across the country again would elevate the record to all-time status. The voices of Swift and Justin Vernon just go together beautifully. They are probably the most valuable asset on Disney+ and yes, that includes green space puppets. Swift forever.
