The MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home is being hailed as the best ever movie about the teenage web-slinger and there are many reasons why. The film packs up familiar faces by the numbers, making sure no staunch fan feels left out. The third installment in Tom Holland’s trilogy is also aesthetically pleasing, with the costumes brilliantly complementing the scenery.

While the villains mostly don a single costume, several Spider-Man costumes are featured, giving fans the opportunity to debate which among them is cooler. There is not a single ugly piece of clothing or armor in the movie but how comic-accurate are the costumes? Are there any major changes to what readers are used to seeing?

11 Doctor Octopus’ Costume

Alfred Molina’s character makes a return with just about the same fashion sense he had in the Sam Raimi movies. He still loves his long coats and sunglasses.

While the live-action look makes Doc Ock appear badass, it isn’t what’s commonly portrayed on the pages. When Ock makes his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #3, he is seen wearing a green and yellow suit. This look has only been changed twice. Regrettably, none of what he wears in the comics best resembles his live-action look.

10 Spider-Man’s Red And Black Suit

The first few minutes pick off where Spider-Man: Far From Home ended and Peter can be seen wearing the same red and black suit he wore when his true identity had just been revealed. Peter had created the suit himself using Stark technology.

The red and black suit is worn by some of the best alternate versions of Spider-Man in the comics. Ben Reilly wears the suit in Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History (Vol 1). However, the Spider logo on that particular suit is white and Reilly also dons brown boots. Gerry Drew also wears a red and black suit when he becomes the new Spider-Man in Spider-Girl #32. But the red gloves on his suit stretch all the way to the elbows yet the one Hollan’s Spiderman wears combines the red and black color scheme. Gerry’s spider logo is massive too.

9 Green Goblin’s Armor

Norman Osborn shows up at the bridge wearing the same armor that he did in Spider-Man 2. At some point in the movie, he ditches the mask, and additionally, he wears his purple hoodie a couple of times.

While Osborn’s pieces of attire are comic accurate, the complete look isn’t. He smashes his mask and only wears the hoodie for most of his scenes because the original look was highly criticized back in 2002. While Willem Dafoe’s character does look better, there is no version of the comics where he wears the hoodie without the mask.

8 Iron Spider Suit

In one of the best Iron Man and Spider-Man father-son moments in the MCU, the Stark Industries boss gifts the teenage hero a new suit right before he joined the Avengers. Peter goes on to use it during the “Infinity War” events as well as the fight with Doc Ock.

Tony makes a suit for Peter in Amazing Spider-Man #529 too but this specific one is gold and red, compared to the one worn by Holland. which is gold, red, and blue. The ‘special features’ part of the suit is where the movie gets most things right. These include enhanced vision capabilities, scanning, and web-shooters.

7 Electro’s Costume

Electro is one of Jamie Foxx’s best roles and he has a go at it again, thanks to Doctor Strange accidentally cracking open the multiverse. His costume is tweaked a bit to be more comic accurate but there are a couple of differences.

While Electro wears a green and yellow outfit like his comic counterpart, the lightning-shaped mask is missing. Instead, fans get to see electricity bolts on his head, shaped in the same way as the mask. The green color is also of a darker shade compared to the traditional Electro who prefers the light green color. Furthermore, the movie version of Electro wears casual attire while the comics one has custom made boots and tights

6 Spider-Man’s Black And Gold Suit

Peter can be seen wearing black and gold when he finds Max Dillon, aka, Electro, absorbing electricity from power cables. He is attacked but Flint Marko, who has also been transported to Peter’s universe, saves him.

The most similar outfit is the one Peter creates during his stint at Octavius Industries in Marvel’s Spider-Man. The color scheme is black and yellow, which mostly resembles the black and gold one worn in the Electro scene. There are no other similarities as the designs are entirely different. Black Cat gives Peter a black costume too in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #99 but that one has a bluish hue in some areas.

5 Spider-Man’s Integrated Suit

In the movie’s final arc, Tom Holland’s Peter dons the Integrated Suit, which appears to combine elements from every previous suit. It has special Iron Spider nanotechnology as well as gold on the boots, abdomen, and arm areas.

Comparisons can be made with what Peter Parker from Earth-20368 wears Captain Marvel (Vol. 10) #24, There is gold in the boot and arm areas though there is none on the chest. In the comics, red also stretches all over the arms while in the movie, it alternates with the black-bluish hue up until the glove area.

4 Doctor Strange’s Costume

Unlike Spider-Man, Doctor Strange has never felt the need to be such a perfectionist when it comes to what he wears. His focus is entirely on magic.

The costume Doctor Strange wears when Peter approaches him for help in concealing his identity once again is one that fans are used to. However, some early costumes, such as the one seen in Strange Tales (Vol 1) have a white pattern, right where the Eye of Agamotto is located. The costume currently worn by Strange doesn’t have such a pattern.

3 Spider-Man’s New MCU Suit

Before the credits roll, Spider-Man jumps out of the window donning what seems like the more traditional red and blue suit. He swings through the streets of New York but just as the audiences are about to be given a much closer look, events come to conclusion.

From afar, it appears the suit is as comic-accurate as it can get. Though the camera doesn’t zoom in for closer inspection, the superhero attire is featured in promotional material and even though it has minor design changes, it’s what fans are mostly used to seeing in the illustrations. Given its appearance right at the end, it’s likely that the costume will feature heavily in the next movie.

2 Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Suit

Like Tobey, Andrew Garfield also wears the same Spider-Man suit he did in his two previous movies. It’s similar to Tobey’s suit too, with the major difference being the web patterns and the size of the Spider-Man symbol.

Garfield’s version might be the least appreciated of the web slingers but he at least looks the part. There are hardly any differences to point out between his suit and the one traditional one, first seen in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962). In fact, Garfield’s Spider-Man has such a great appearance that Mary Jane and Flash Thompson are awed the first time he shows up.

1 Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Suit

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man dons the same costume that he did in the highly-celebrated trilogy, He is older now but the suit still looks good on him.

Maguire’s suit is often considered the prettiest one to ever appear in a live-action. There are hardly any complications, with the red and blue color schemes being exactly where fans are used to seeing them in the comics. The web patterns are bold too, serving as a reminder that Peter is indeed about spiders and everything they represent.
