Warning: This article contains spoilers for Wheel of Time season 1.

Several major characters associated with the first Wheel of Time book missed out on season 1, but could still appear in season 2. While Wheel of Time season 1 covered parts of multiple books, its primary focus was the story of the first installment, The Eye of the World. Like Jordan’s original story, it began with the Trollocs’ attack on the Two Rivers village and ended with the battle with Ishamael (disguised as the Dark One) at the Eye of the World.

Wheel of Time’s adaptation of The Eye of the World wasn’t without significant changes to the source material, but it did incorporate many of the book’s most important moments. And while it made many adjustments to the timeline of events, it still found room for the first book’s core cast. Thom Merrilin (Alexandre Willaume) and Min Farshaw (Kae Alexander) may not have debuted in their proper places in the original story, but they still got to play key roles in the journey to find the Dragon Reborn in Wheel of Time season 1.

The show also worked in a number of characters from the sequels, such as Alanna Mosvani (Priyanka Bose), Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo), and more. But in telling Eye of the World’s story, Wheel of Time notably skipped over quite a few big names fans were expecting to see. In the cases of characters like the Green Man, the time for their relevance has passed. However, there are others that are likely to show up, regardless of the changes made to the story. Here’s every missing Eye of the World character who could make an appearance in Wheel of Time season 2.

Elyas Machera

Introduced close to the middle of The Eye of the World, Elyas Machera was a former Warder encountered by Perrin and Egwene after Moiraine’s group was split up. Elyas revealed himself to be a Wolfbrother, meaning that he had the ability to communicate telepathically with wolves. It was through Elyas that Perrin developed some degree of understanding about his newfound connection with wolves. Amazon’s Wheel of Time show already passed the point where Elyas was supposed to appear, but that doesn’t mean the series doesn’t need him anymore. A meeting between Perrin and Elyas in season 2 could provide some necessary answers about Perrin’s wolf powers.

Elayne Trakand

Of all the missing Eye of the World characters, only one is already confirmed to appear in Wheel of Time season 2. Ceara Coveney has been cast as Elayne Trakand, one of Rand’s three main love interests and the Daughter-Heir of the Kingdom of Andor. Instead of arriving in Tar Valon like he did in the show, Rand was originally expected to go to Caemlyn, the capital city of Andor and the location of the royal palace. After falling off a wall, Rand had his first-ever meeting with Elayne, who quickly became infatuated with him. Afterward, Elayne reappeared in the second book as a central figure in the storyline centered on Egwene and Nynaeve, followed by several more noteworthy arcs.

Queen Morgase

The character who controls the Lion Throne (the title given to the highest position of authority in Andor) in Wheel of Time’s world is Morgase Trakand, Elayne’s mother and a former lover of Thom Merrilin. In The Eye of the World, she met Rand when he was caught on the palace grounds. Due to her importance to the political side of Wheel of Time, Queen Morgase factored heavily into the characters’ efforts to unite the various nations and oppose the forces of the Dark One. The same is sure to be true for the show’s take on the Andorian monarch.

Gawyn Trakand

Elayne was one of two people sympathetic to Rand’s plight when he found himself within the palace’s walls. The other was Gawyn, Elayne’s brother. He helped Elayne argue on Rand’s behalf when he was brought before Queen Morgase in The Eye of the World. With Elayne already on the horizon, Gawyn appearing in season 2 feels like a safe bet. In the books, Gawyn went on to become a love interest to Egwene and a capable ally to Wheel of Time’s principal characters. Though the specific timing of his introduction remains to be seen, showrunner Rafe Judkins did mention plans for Gawyn’s romance with Egwene to be adapted eventually [via CBR].

Galad Damodred

In a season 1 episode, Siuan referred to Moiraine as a person of noble blood and dropped her last name, Damodred. This was a reference to the royal family that rules over the Kingdom of Cairhien, House Damodred. One of the characters connected to the Damodred bloodline is Galad, a skilled young swordsman known for always doing what he believes is right. As a result of his father marrying Queen Morgase, Galad formed tied to the Kingdom of Andor and became a resident of the palace at Caemlyn. Much like Gawyn and Elayne, Galad appeared first during Rand’s brief stay at the palace before being sent to the White Tower in the second book, The Great Hunt.

Gareth Byrne & Martyn Tallanvor

Among the many characters Rand met while he was in Caemlyn were Martyn Tallanvor and Gareth Byrne. Tallanvor was the captain of the palace guards and a man secretly in love with Queen Morgase. Gareth was the Captain-General of Andor and one of the queen’s closest confidantes. Though initially seen as minor characters, both ended up having plenty to do in the books as supporters of the Dragon Reborn and his friends.

Elaida of the Red Ajah

It may not be long before Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) is joined by another villainous member of the Red Ajah. In The Eye of the World, Elaida was in the company of Queen Morgase when Rand was captured. Instantly suspicious of Rand, Elaida was certain that there was something special about him. Wheel of Time season 2 accurately telling the story of what happened at the palace has interesting implications for Rand, especially since Elaida is one of the Red Sisters. Since Rand already knows he’s the Dragon Reborn, getting gentled may become a real concern for his character if Elaida is in the palace. For a male channeler, there’s nothing more frightening than an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah.

Balthemel & Aginor

When Moiraine’s group went to the Eye of the World in the book, they were accosted by Balthemel and Aginor. The two male channelers were members of the Forsaken, a team of 13 immortals pledged to use the One Power in the service of the Dark One. Both died during the book version of the story, which means that in the TV series, it’ll have to give them different roles. Similar to the situation in the books, these characters could be what makes Moiraine and the others realize that the Forsaken are a clear and present threat to their cause.

Bayle Domon

Possibly in the interest of fitting the first book into a single-season story, Wheel of Time omitted a key stop in the characters’ journey. Between the incident at Shadar Logoth and the fight with the Fade, Rand, Mat, and Thom traveled on a ship captained by a man named Bayle Domon. Domon helped the three evade the Trollocs pursuing them. There’s no longer a reason for him to fulfill this role in Amazon’s The Wheel of Time show, but he could still receive his story from The Great Hunt, and potentially more. In The Great Hunt, Elayne, Egwene, and Nynaeve were assisted by Captain Domon during their travels at sea and conflict with the Seanchan. Considering that the finale teased the Seanchan as season 2 villains, it won’t be a surprise at all if this is where Domon fits into the show’s plan.

Lord Ingtar

Played by Gregg Chilingirian, Lord Ingtar is confirmed to appear in Wheel of Time season 2. The main characters first met him in Fal Dara toward the end of The Eye of the World. In the second book, he served as the leader of the group that went after the Horn of Valere and stands a good chance at filling the same role in the show.
