When Demi Moore and Bruce Willis played opposite one another in Mortal Thoughts and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, the results proved deadly. In real life, the two are often lauded as a model couple of divorce, but onscreen Moore has killed Willis more than once. The ex-couple first met at the 1987 premiere of Stakeout, and the two have appeared together onscreen multiple times over the course of their long and successful acting careers, despite Willis disliking Die Hard 2.

After a whirlwind romance, Moore and Willis got married just months after meeting. As they rose to stardom during their marriage, the two became a Hollywood golden couple and were together for 11 years before separating in 1998. Their divorce was later finalized in 2000. Moore and Willis have three daughters and by all accounts have maintained a supportive and friendly relationship with each other over the two decades since their divorce, including reportedly spending time in quarantine together during Covid lockdown in 2020.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

From Moore attending Willis’s vow renewal ceremony and Willis supporting Moore at her book launch in 2019, it’s hard to imagine a divorced couple getting along any better than these two. But when it comes to making movies together, even movies Willis regretted making, the pair have been deadly enemies more than once. The first time came before the couple split, in the 1991 Neo-noir thriller, Mortal Thoughts. The second came after their divorce was finalized, in 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. In both cases, Moore ultimately became the victor by murdering Willis’ character in each film.

In Mortal Thoughts, Moore plays Cynthia, a woman who kills her best friend’s abusive husband, James (played by Willis) after he attacks her in a van. In the film’s murder scene, Moore’s Cynthia cuts Willis’ throat with a box cutter, and his character subsequently bleeds to death. This is a much darker scenario than the second time Moore kills Willis onscreen. In 2003, Demi Moore starred in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, impressing fans and critics alike with her portrayal of former Angel, Madison Lee. Willis made a cameo appearance in the film as a Justice Department official who is ambushed and shot dead by an unknown assassin. Thanks to the gold-plated handgun she used, Moore’s Madison Lee is later revealed as Willis’ killer in the Charlie’s Angels sequel.

While Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have reportedly been “best friends for years,” in Mortal Thoughts and Charle’s Angels: Full Throttle, Moore exacts the ultimate Hollywood revenge on her ex-husband – something that likely never could have happened if the couple didn’t have such a great relationship in real life. The reality makes this kind of scenario fun for the actors and their fans, as these two clearly work and play well together, both on and off-screen.
