Every New Location In Frozen 2

Frozen 2 sees Anna and Elsa head north out of Arendelle on a mysterious quest to learn the truth behind Elsa’s magic, which brings them to new locations. Even Disney didn’t expect the first Frozen to be quite such a success, but the studio has been reluctant to rush out a sequel. It’s been six years since Anna and Elsa made their big-screen debut, and the children who were first introduced to this world of magic have grown up quite a bit.

As a result, Frozen 2 looks set to be a little more mature. It sees Anna and Elsa forced to leave Arendelle and travel through the mountains, where they seek to learn the truth behind Elsa’s magic. Their journey will ultimately take them to a mysterious new location called Ahtohallan, but along the way, the sisters will explore a whole host of new locations.

The Frozen 2 trailers deliberately avoid revealing too much about the plot. Details are emerging as a result of Frozen 2 merchandise, though, that’s been released ahead of Christmas. Avoiding spoilers, here’s your guide to all the key locations that will be visited on the journey to Ahtohallan.

The Monoliths

Frozen 2 begins with Anna and Elsa traveling through the mountains of Arendelle to the outskirts of the Enchanted Forest, which has been hidden beneath a shroud of impenetrable mist for decades. On the outskirts of the Enchanted Forest are four gigantic monoliths, made of stone from the local mountains, and they’ve stood for several generations. Each monolith is marked with a symbol representing one of the four elements – earth, air, water, and fire – and these shapes match the patterns in Elsa’s own ice crystals.

The mist beyond the monoliths has held for decades, pushing back anyone who attempts to enter the Enchanted Forest. Elsa senses that a gentle approach is needed, and she and her friends link hands to walk past the monoliths. The mists begin to part, allowing them entry, due to Elsa’s magical powers.

The Enchanted Forest

Elsa and Anna learned about the Enchanted Forest when they were children, in bedtime stories told to them by their parents. When Elsa and her friends enter the Enchanted Forest, they see a sight unlike anything they’ve seen before. They are mesmerized by the view of an autumnal land, where soft rays of light shimmer on colorful leaves. The people who live inside the Enchanted Forest are a tribe known as the Northuldra, an adventurous tribe who are deeply connected to their environment and the spirits of the natural world.

The Dark Sea

The quest for Ahtohallan takes Elsa to the Dark Sea, which acts as a further barrier between this mysterious realm and the outside world. To the surprise of Elsa and Anna, they discover the wreckage of an Arendelle ship that has been destroyed by the storms of the Dark Sea. The Frozen 2 trailer shows Elsa attempting to cross the Dark Sea using her ice powers, creating ice floats to make her way across the towering waves. The Dark Sea is home to the Nokk, a water spirit of nature whose power is both threatening and spectacular.
