One of the most refreshing sitcoms to come out recently has been the Canadian sitcom, Schitt’s Creek. With its tongue-in-cheek humor and normalized LGBTQ+ relationships, the show has won the hearts of millions of viewers worldwide along with winning many Emmy awards.

The show has so many excellent episodes that fans love to rewatch. But what about the season premieres? Do they have the rewatchable factor too? Their ratings on IMDb will help in figuring that out and also which ones are the best among all.

6 “Our Cup Runneth Over” (7.1)

Schitt’s Creek started with the Rose family losing all their wealth and moving to a quaint little town of Schitt’s Creek. This episode is the lowest-rated premiere of the show because while it had a hook, it didn’t deliver a unique plot and the characters seemed trite.

The performances of the main cast were brilliant. The Rose family’s relationship dynamics were certainly entertaining to watch. However, at times, the episode felt stale and the drama wasn’t as gripping. The main characters were unlikeable, which was intentional, but it didn’t do much to form a connection with the audience. It is safe to say that Schitt’s Creek began as unremarkable but slowly paved its way into the hearts of fans with the marvelous character growth of characters.

5 “Finding David” (7.8)

The premiere of the second season was a great departure from the season 1 premiere. By this time, the show had found its footing and the direction of the story seemed steady. The writing of this episode is hilarious as it sees the Roses trying to find David.

The moment where David is found in the field wearing an outrageous outfit is one of the scenes of Schitt’s Creek that live rent-free in fans’ heads. Dan Levy shines in this episode with his comedic timing and hilarious moments, and it was an episode that made fans connect with his character more than ever before. The Roses might still be unlikeable characters, but they undeniably were able to make viewers dissolve into laughter.

4 “Opening Night” (8.0)

The season 3 premiere, “Opening Night” sees members of the Rose family going through some uncomfortable situations. David and Stevie realize they are in a three-way relationship with Jake while Mutt asks Alexis to take care of his barn while he is away with his girlfriend. Moira begins her political career and Johnny is feeling insecure about his contribution to the family’s income. Thus, the characters are exploring other dimensions of themselves that they have never explored before.

The episode is fun, light-hearted, and hilarious. Fans have begun to connect strongly with the main characters through the episode as they glimpse deeper and more emotional sides to them. Viewers are now openly empathizing with the Rose family who once seemed cold and unemotional.

3 “The Crowening” (8.1)

Season 5 started with Moira shooting her comeback movie in Bosnia. She may not be in Schitt’s Creek but her experiences during the shoot of the film are highly amusing for the fans. She is the laughing stock of the episode and proves how Catherine O’ Hara is a comedic genius. Apart from Moira’s antics, “The Crowening” also shows Johnny’s love for her.

This is one of the first times the sitcom portrays a deeper understanding of Johnny and Moira’s relationship and it turns out that they make a sweet couple because fans can certainly see how miserable Johnny feels being without her for so long. It can also mean that their time together in Schitt’s Creek has brought them closer and rekindled their romance. David and Patrick’s relationship is also put to test. It turns out, despite being extremely different from each other, they have an understanding and connection that is very rare to find in romantic partners.

2 “Dead Guy In Room Four “(8.1)

The season 3 finale of Schitt’s Creek ended up on a high for both siblings, David and Alexis. So the season premiere of season 4, “Dead Guy in Room 4” picks up from their personal lives taking significant turns. The scene where they discuss each other’s love lives is one of the most heartening scenes the duo have shared.

While Alexis is testing the waters with Ted while David is making his relationship with Patrick official. Both of these relationships are much sweeter and more heartwarming than the other romantic escapades the siblings have had in the past. On the other hand, Johnny and Stevie handling the dead body situation at their motel urged the fans to ponder upon their sweet platonic relationship as well and how good they are as a team that will be explored further later on.

1 “Smoke Signals” (8.1)

The season premiere of the final season of Schitt’s Creek is undoubtedly one of the best season premieres of the show that fans can happily go back to time and time again. Knowing that it’s the last season, fans are expecting great episodes from the get-go and the premiere certainly didn’t disappoint. The episode explored the relationship of the siblings, Alexis and David, and their parents, Johnny and Moira. Johnny wants to be with Moira and he is ready to support her on whatever professional turn her life may take.

There can be seen tension between David and Alexis since Alexis is leaving for Galapagos Islands to be with Ted. The siblings working out their issues revealed that the duo may not see eye to eye at all times, they deeply care for each other and want to be a significant part of each other’s lives. Interestingly, Stevie is the catalyst for the siblings opening up to each other, proving that Stevie is good at understanding the emotions of people around her.
