A massive Pokémon GO event just took place, and it left behind a slew of Shiny Pokémon in its wake. The first-ever Pokémon GO Tour event boasted the addition of every missing Shiny form of the original 151 Pokémon first discovered in the Kanto region. However, that doesn’t mean 151 new Shinies were added, as there were only a handful Niantic hadn’t added to the game until now.

The Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto was announced last November, alongside the release of the GO Beyond update. This event was the first of the Pokémon GO Tour series, which are events meant to celebrate a specific generation of Pokémon. Seeing as 2021 is the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, the first Tour celebrated where it all began: Kanto, the region where the Generation 1 games took place.

As part of the celebration, Niantic announced it would be adding the missing Kanto Pokémon Shiny variants. That includes the Shiny Pokémon Mew, which can only be obtained through the Kanto Tour Special Research questline. While the majority of the original 151 Pokémon can already be found as Shinies, here are all the Shiny Pokémon added during the Kanto Tour event.

All New Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Shiny Forms

The most anticipated Shinies added during the Pokémon GO event are Shiny Ditto and Mew. Both can be obtained by completing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research questline, but Shiny Mew is is the only Pokémon during the event that is exclusive to the Special Research. It has yet to be revealed how players can find a Shiny Ditto in the wild, making the Special Research the easiest way to obtain one.

The rest of the new Shiny Pokémon can all be found in the wild, and their Shiny forms will remain in-game for players to hunt even after the event ends. Spearow and its evolution, Fearow, can be found as Shinies in Pokémon GO for the first time ever. Paras and Parasect have also been added, along with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. Another highly anticipated Shiny, Snorlax, has been added, but its low spawn rate will make it difficult to find. With the addition of eight new Shiny forms, this is the largest number of Shiny Pokémon added to Pokémon GO at one time. Special events like these normally add a few new Shiny forms to Pokémon GO, but Niantic is going all out for the Kanto Tour.

Hopefully, Pokémon GO will have more Tour events in the near future that will add even more Shiny forms to the game. Shiny hunting has become quite the hobby within the Pokémon community, and it’s always nice to have new monsters to catch. The additions of new Shinies in Pokémon GO are few and far between, so the Kanto Tour is a nice treat for avid Shiny hunters.
