Every Superhero In The Arrowverse: Flash, Supergirl, & More

The Arrowverse is one of the most expansive shared universes on television, and it’s filled to the brim with DC Comics superheroes. It all started with Arrow in 2012 and then continued with The Flash in 2014, which was first set up in Arrow. From that point onward, Arrow became the breeding ground for dozens of new superheroes, crafting a multiverse as complex as that in the original DC Comics. This shared reality has grown to envelope not only the superhero shows of The CW and CW Seed (including animated series Vixen and The Ray), but even the DC Comics shows of other networks, like CBS’s Supergirl (which moved to The CW with its second season) and NBC’s Constantine.

Now, as the Arrowverse prepares to introduce Batwoman and (potentially) start yet another new spinoff series, it seems a good time to look back and take inventory of all the heroes that have come before. The DC Universe of the comics contains thousands of superheroes and while the Arrowverse has yet to equal that number, it has adapted a surprisingly large number of superheroes for the small screen – in just a few years, too.

First, a definition of terms. Superhero, in this case, will include anyone who has metahuman or magical powers, wears a costume, or uses a codename while fighting crime. Though their contributions to their respective teams are valuable, this listing will not include those characters who primarily fight crime as technical or legal support, such as Winn Schott, the many variations of Harrison Wells, or police officers like Joe West or Quentin Lance. This list will also skip those characters who have been said to exist but haven’t actually appeared on-screen, such as the Batman of Earth 38 or The Flash of Earth 19.

The Superheroes Of Arrow

Arrow centers upon the adventures of Oliver Queen – a billionaire playboy who was presumed lost at sea in 2007, but survived to spend five years training himself to honor a promise to his father to make amends for the many crimes he committed in building their family’s fortune. Returning home to Star City in 2012, Oliver had but one goal: save his city from the evils that plagued it. For six years, under a number of aliases and with a number of allies, Oliver did just that, eventually adopting the identity of the Green Arrow and leading a squad of largely low-powered vigilantes.

• Oliver Queen/Green Arrow – The world’s greatest archer and leader of Star City’s vigilantes.
• John Diggle/Spartan – Hired to be Oliver Queen’s bodyguard, this former soldier would find a new war to fight as Oliver Queen’s right-hand man.
• Helena Bertinelli/Huntress – This Mafia princess sought to bring down her family’s criminal enterprise from the inside, but her tactics proved too fatal for Oliver Queen’s taste.
• Felicity Smoak/Overwatch – A hacker with a heart of gold, she became Oliver Queen’s staunchest ally and, in time, his wife.
• Lyla Michaels/Harbinger – John Diggle’s former commanding officer and former wife, whom he remarried. Now leader of the anti-terrorism group ARGUS.
• Roy Harper/Arsenal – A former petty crook from the bad side of Star City, he found a new life as Oliver Queen’s partner in crime-fighting.
• Ted Grant/Wildcat – A former pro-boxer, he used his fists to protect The Glades decades before Green Arrow showed up.
• Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana – A master swordswoman, she helped to train a young Oliver Queen and saved his life years later, after his duel to the death with Ra’s Al Ghul.
• Laurel Lance/Black Canary– Oliver Queen’s former lover, she became a vigilante to avenge her sister’s murder.
• Thea Queen/Speedy – Oliver Queen’s half-sister. Trained as an assassin by her father, Malcolm Merlyn, before joining Team Arrow.
• Curtis Holt/Mister Terrific – A former Olympic decathlete and engineering genius. Inventor of The T-Sphere.
• Rory Regan/Ragman – Wielder of the magical Rags of Devarim, Ragman seeks to punish the wicked the law can’t touch.
• Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog – A former Navy SEAL, who turned to vigilantism after the violent death of his wife.
• Evelyn Sharp/Artemis – An aspiring hero who blamed Oliver Queen for her parents death and eventually betrayed Team Arrow.
• Christopher Chance/Human Target – This method actor and master of disguise claims to be able to turn himself into anyone, hiring himself out as the ultimate double agent.
• Vincent Sobel/Vigilante – A former Central City cop, with a metahuman healing factor.
• Dinah Drake/Black Canary II – A former Central City cop, with a metahuman sonic scream.
• Green Arrow III – A mysterious new figure, who has taken up Oliver Queen’s mantle in season 7.
• Zoe Ramirez/Black Canary III – Wild Dog’s daughter, a vigilante in the future of 2038.

The Superheroes of The Flash

The explosion of a particle accelerator at STAR Labs’ facility in Central City in 2013 unleashed vast amounts of energized dark matter and other strange energies, thereby imbuing strange powers in hundreds of people. Forensic scientist Barry Allen was one of these so-called metahumans and was granted the power of superhuman speed. Now, with the aid of the scientists at STAR Labs, Barry uses his newfound abilities as the Fastest Man Alive to stop those metahumans who abuse their powers and protect the world from various super-powered menaces, such as dimension-hopping Nazis and telepathic gorillas.

• Barry Allen/The Flash – The self-described Fastest Man Alive and favorite hero of Central City. Barry Allen’s day job is working as a CSI for CCPD.
• Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm – The original physical component of the Firestorm entity. Ronnie sacrificed his life to save the world in the season 2 premiere.
• Cisco Ramon/Vibe – A talented engineer, he later discovered unique metahuman powers that allowed him to create focused sonic blasts and portals between alternate Earths.
• Hartley Rathaway/Pied Piper – Once an enemy of Team Flash, a change to the time-stream turned his heart and earned his help in saving Barry from the Time Wraiths.
• Jay Garrick/The Flash II – The Flash of Earth 3, he has become something of a mentor to Barry Allen.
• Wally West/Kid Flash – Iris West’s estranged younger brother, a second release of dark matter within STAR Labs gave Wally a connection to The Speed Force.
• Jesse Wells/Jesse Quick – Acquiring super-speed after being exposed to charged dark matter on Earth 1, this Earth 2 native went back to her home Earth and started her own superhero team.
• Cynthia/Gypsy – A dimension-traveling police officer from Earth 19, she briefly had a romantic relationship with the Vibe of Earth 1.
• Josh/Breacher – Father of Cynthia/Gypsy and perhaps the most legendary dimension-hopping lawman in all the multiverse. Recently retired to run a dragon farm on Earth 47.
• The Accelerated Man – A speedster from Earth 19, who worked for the same police agency as Gypsy and Breacher
• Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost – Possessing ice-generation powers and a second personality, Caitlin eventually made peace with her alter ego, before losing the ability to summon her up. She also recently discovered that she’s been repressing her powers since childhood.
• Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man – A disgraced cop turned private eye, this ductile detective turned over a new leaf after he developed the power to stretch his body into nearly any shape.
• Nora West-Allen/XS – Barry Allen and Iris West’s daughter from the future of 2049. She inherited her father’s speed, but very little of his patient nature.
• Barry Allen/The Flash III – The star of the 1990s The Flash series, early photos of the Elseworlds event confirmed that his reality (designated Earth 90) is part of the Arrowverse.
