Warning: contains spoilers for Nightwing #88!

Any Teen Titans fan worth their salt owes it to themselves to see the gorgeous full-page image of the team’s most notable members, drawn by the amazingly talented Bruno Redondo with colors from Adriano Lucas. Redondo has stunned fans with his gorgeous art in the pages of Nightwing with his ability to capture the kinetic energy Dick Grayson is known for, while Lucas’ colors make the comic one of the most striking on the market. Accordingly, the most recent issue includes a group shot that will capture the heart of any Titans fan.

Initially appearing in The Brave and the Bold, the original team was composed of some of DC’s most well-known sidekicks, such as Robin, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash. The team would be reinvented in the 1980s by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez in The New Teen Titans #1, which added Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven to the group. The Teen Titans have remained a fan favorite team for years and their popularity has only grown thanks to multiple successful television adaptations, including the animated Teen Titans & Teen Titans GO! and the live-action Titans.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Nightwing #88 by Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, and Adriano Lucas shows Dick Grayson becoming the target of a hit put out by Blockbuster. As Dick attends the groundbreaking of a new shelter for homeless youth, assassins come out of the woodwork to kill him. Grayson’s former teammates, Starfire and Donna Troy, put a stop to one mercenary while Dick’s best friend, Wally West, speedily delivers him to safety. After donning a new costume with added protection, Grayson and West return to stop the army of hitmen. Joined by his other Titans colleagues, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Raven, the entire team assembles to save the day in a full-page splash that puts the Titans members in a beautiful tableau, together and ready to fight.

Seeing the most prominent members of the Teen Titans grown and still working together is a welcome sight for any fan of the team. Whether a fan of the classic lineup, the team established in Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s classic series, or the various television adaptations, it’s heartwarming to see the heroes still have each other’s backs. Dick mentions in his speech at the groundbreaking that, “Home is where your family is. Whether you were born into that family or whether you found each other.” The Titans have always considered themselves family, and no matter what relationship drama or betrayal they suffer, the team will always come back together. Their willingness to drop everything and protect one of their own shows how deep their bond goes and why fans have stuck with them for all these years.

Though the Teen Titans aren’t exactly teens anymore, they’re just as committed to each other as adults, and Bruno Redondo and Adriano Lucas’ art captures the wonder in seeing these heroes fight with the same spirit they had in their youth.
