Time management and stamina use are important to manage in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town and one of the easiest ways to do this is by upgrading every tool. When starting out on a farmstead in Story of Seasons, players are given a base set of tools. Without upgrades, the tasks of cutting lumber, breaking rocks, and reaping grasses can quickly deplete the stamina bar. By upgrading tools, players can cover more space, and use less stamina to do the same tasks.

There are 4 upgrades for each of the 7 tools used for daily chores, including Iron, Silver, Gold, and Orichalcum tool levels. There are a total of 9 tools available in Pioneers of Olive Town, but the Leash and Camera do not have upgrades currently. To fully upgrade each tool, players will need to unlock all three farming areas to gain access to the needed ore and lumber, and save a good deal of money to pay for each improvement level. Players will also need to potentially unlock Stonebreaker Valley before being able to obtain all the Orichalcum level tool upgrades, as Orichalcum only spawns between floors 31-50 of the third mine, and only very rarely. It is more likely to spawn in Stonebreaker Valley, which can speed up ore collection for Orichalcum Ingots. Because of this, reaching the final upgrade for each tool will take some time.

When upgrading tools in Pioneers of Olive Town, prioritizing the Axe, Hammer, and Watering Can first helps speed up resource gathering, as well as making daily farm chores easier. Pioneers of Olive Town has removed extra tools needed for animal care like the Milker and Clippers, which were present in past games, greatly reducing the number of tools needing upgrades. This is a big improvement from other entries in the series, and greatly reduces the overall cost of improving every tool.

Crafting and placing several Ingot and Lumber Makers in Pioneers of Olive Town will speed up the process of gathering needed resources, as every improvement level requires a handful of ingots, as well as different kinds of lumber. While it may be tempting, it is important to avoid purchasing lumber and ore from the General Store, as this can greatly drive up the cost of each improvement level, and take away from the money needed to purchase and plant seeds, as well as what players will need to afford housing and livestock building improvements. Mining and cutting on the farm is not only free but also yields other important resources like gemstones and sap, making collecting each resource well worth the time.

• Fishing Rod – A gift from Manuela when visiting her house on the beach for the first time. This tool is available at any time.
• Camera – A gift from Gloria the Museum Curator when visiting the Museum.
• Leash –  A gift from Patricia, the owner of the Hoof House Pet Shop, after the 1st home renovation is complete and the player earns the ability to purchase a pet.

Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town – Upgrading Tools

Upgrades for tools cannot be done on a farm workbench like past Story of Seasons games. Players will instead need to visit Clemens at his repair shop and pay for the upgrades in a mixture of Gold Coins and required resources. Below are the upgrades for each tool, and what they will cost.

There are also 2 Bag upgrades available in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Each expansion gives players an additional 8 slots to their original 16, for a total of 32 slots. The Big Bag upgrade will cost 3,000g, and the Huge Bag upgrade is 15,000g. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town players should prioritize bag expansions as soon as they are available to give ample room for storing needed resources while caring for their budding farmstead.
