It’s an exciting time for Batman fans with a brand-new movie adaptation on the way, and nothing says it more than a new print that also serves as an amazing tribute to the Dark Knight’s multimedia history. Artist BenzieQueen’s latest work gathers up several generations of Batman eagerly gathered to take in a movie. From his earliest film serials all the way to his last cinematic outgoing, the artwork shows off nearly every Batman imaginable just in time for a new Bruce Wayne to join the camp.

Since first swinging into history on the front page of Detective Comics #27, Batman has, without a doubt, been one of the most influential characters in the superhero genre. Aside from being an absolute powerhouse in terms of sales, the character’s popularity carried him far beyond the medium of comics. In the last eighty something years, Batman has made the leap into movies, video games, cartoons, television shows, audio dramas and more, with no sign of stopping.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The journey Batman has been on has never been portrayed better than a new piece by BenzieQueen. The piece, titled Batman only, shows a movie theater populated by nothing but Batmen. Fans of Bruce Wayne’s feature film outings can recognize Michael Keaton’s, Christian Bale’s and Ben Affleck’s takes from Batman, the Dark Knight Trilogy and the DCEU, respectively. Cartoon portrayals of Bruce Wayne are here, too, such as the one from Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Brave and the Bold, and The LEGO Batman Movie. Of course, no collection would be complete without some of his most notable variants in the comics. The Rainbow Batman suit is represented, as is Batman’s Zur-En-Arrh persona as well as several corrupted Bruce Waynes from the Dark Multiverse of Dark Nights: Metal.

The coterie shown in BenzieQueen’s piece honors Batman’s legacy in a very charming way. Seeing the many ways Batman has been presented to fans in his nearly century long career shows how far the character has come. Amid the many versions of the World’s Greatest Detective, fans can see the costume he wore as a gun-toting pulp hero in his earliest appearances as well as the softer, more kid-friendly Adam West take that thrilled audiences in the 60s. The assorted assembly not only emphasizes how much Batman has changed from decade to decade but the reach he has to audiences across all age ranges. It’s a good reminder as Matt Reeves’ The Batman approaches that the new Dark Knight stands on the shoulders of his elder incarnations.

It’s also important to remember that Bruce Wayne has only come so far thanks to the love and dedication of fans such as BenzieQueen, keeping Batman in business for over eighty years.
