Several Galarian Pokémon from Sword and Shield are making a debut in Pokémon Go thanks to a new Ultra Unlock event taking place from August 20 through August 31. The event features a wide number of features such as increased spawns, new Shiny Pokémon, and a handful of field and research tasks for players to undertake.

The event – and Pokémon Go in general – was highlighted earlier this month thanks to the Pokémon Presents livestream, which showcased several upcoming releases both to existing Pokémon games and upcoming titles such as Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. This year also marks the fifth anniversary of Pokémon Go.

The anniversary brought along with it exclusive research tasks, collection challenges, and more. This month’s Sword and Shield event in Pokémon Go is also Part 3 of the game’s overall 2021 Ultra Unlock event, all of which have likewise been themed around the Galar region. The premise of the Ultra Unlock events is fairly similar throughout each phase. Each changes up Pokémon Go‘s available missions and spawns to introduce new Pokémon.

Pokémon Go’s Sword & Shield Ultra Unlock Event

New Sword & Shield Pokémon: Starting at 10 AM local time on August 20, three new Pokémon from the Galar region began appearing within Pokémon Go for the Ultra Unlock event: Wooloo, Skwovet, and Falinks. Additionally, a few returning Pokémon from other parts of the event have increased spawns up until August 31. These include Kingler, Galarian Darumaka, Snorlax, and Trubbish. A few Galarian Pokémon are likewise getting their Shiny debut during the event such as Galarian Stunfisk, Weezing, Meowth, and Farfetch’d, according to Polygon.

Pokémon Go Eggs & Raids: Although Falinks was removed from raids for Part 3 of the Sword and Shield Ultra Unlock event, several other Pokémon are still present. This includes Zacian and Zamazenta, both of which will be appearing in five-star raids. Zacian is only available August 20 to 26 while Zamazenta will be appearing from August 26 to 31. There are also some Galarian Pokémon appearing in 7-kilometer egg hatches during this Pokémon Go event, such as Slowpoke, Ponyta, and Zigzagoon.
