Netflix had another big hit on their hands with the recent release of the action film Extraction. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a highly trained mercenary who takes on a dangerous mission of rescuing the kidnapped son of a crime lord.

The movie is a non-stop action ride with Hemsworth giving an impressive performance as this butt-kicking badass. It proves he has a promising career in the action genre outside of the MCU. From the amazing fight scenes to the brutal shootouts, there’s a lot of moments that let the leading man shine. Here are Chris Hemsworth’s best action hero moments from Extraction.

10 Waterfall Jump

When Rake is introduced in the film, he doesn’t seem all that impressive. He is drinking and hanging out with his friends on the edge of a massive waterfall. But then Rake gets up from his chair, walks to the edge of the cliff and jumps down into the water without hesitating.

It’s an interesting way to introduce the character, not with an action scene, but by showing that even on his day’s off, he plays with life and death. It also hints at Rake’s death wish that plays a big part in the film.

9 Rescue

Rake target on his mission is a young boy named Ovi, who is being held in a city run by one of his father’s rivals. The actual recuse comes pretty early in the film and shows how effective rake is as an operative.

After being taken into an apartment building where the boy is kept, Rake surveys the area and is led out. On his way out, Rake kills the guards and heads back to the apartment. Though way outnumbered, Rake shoots, punches, and throws the goons around, making quick work of them before grabbing the boy.

8 Rake To The Face

Given the hero’s name, it is fitting that Rake’s most memorable kill in the movie is with an actual rake. While battling the goons in the apartment, Rake grabs anything and everything he can get his hands on to fight them off.

At one point, he grabs a rake and breaks it over one bad guy’s back. He then uses the wood handle to impale the man before taking another man and driving his face into the rake’s spikes. It’s a brutal and gory kill.

7 Car Chase

Rake soon realizes that getting out of the city alive won’t be so easy as he is being hunted by the boy’s bodyguard, Saju, who seeks to save Ovi himself. Wanting to get paid for his job, Rake takes the boy and runs, kick-starting the film’s epic one-shot sequence.

The sequence starts with Rake and Ovi stealing a car and getting into a chase with the Saju and the police on their tail. It is a chaotic and thrilling chase filled with crashes and shootouts.

6 Apartment Fight

The one-shot sequence continues as Rake and Ovi take cover in an apartment complex with numerous corrupt police hunting them down. Rake stealthy makes his way through the complex before losing Ovi.

The sequence then takes Ovi’s point of view where the audience sees Rake’s relentless and brutal attempts to cut through the enemies and get to his target. It makes Rake seem almost frightening in how unstoppable he is.

5 Fight With Saju

The one-shot sequence concludes as Rake and Saju come face to face and fight each other. Their fight starts in the apartment complex before they take each other off a balcony and into the streets below.

It’s interesting to see these two men fighting each other since they share the same unshakable drive to protect the boy but don’t realize they could be helping each other. They are both skilled fighters, but Rake is more of a force of nature who will not be taken down as easily as Saju thought.

4 Fighting Kids

There’s not a lot of humor in this film, but there is one particularly dark comedic moment when Rake comes across a street gang of young kids who are looking to take him out. With the whole city out looking for him, even the youngest wants a piece of Rake.

Seeing as Rake just took out a few dozen trained adults, it’s pretty clear that these kids don’t stand a match for him. And while he goes easier on them, he’s not afraid to give them a good butt-kicking. Who knew it would be so entertaining to see Chris Hemsworth beat up a bunch of kids?

3 Fight With Gaspar

While the whole city of killers is against Rake, he does have one friend who can help – or so he thinks. Gaspar (David Harbour) is a fellow mercenary Rake has worked with in the past and lives on the outskirts of the city.

Gaspar allows him and Ovi to lay low in his home, but it soon becomes clear that Gaspar has also been bought out by the local crime lord and plans to kill the boy. He and Rake get in a brutal hand-to-hand fight that allows Hemsworth and Harbour to show off their fighting skills.

2 Batting Practice

After nearly killing each other several times, Rake and Saju eventually decide to team up in order to get Ovi to safety. Their plan is for Ovi and Saju to head for the bridge out of town while Rake provides them with a distraction.

During his distraction, Rake becomes a one-man army, taking on countless teams of bad guys. In one especially impressive moment, Rake picks up one man and swings him like a baseball bat into another man and snapping his back.

1 Bridge Standoff

The film’s climax is a bloody and emotional fight on the bridge as Rake desperately tries to get Ovi to safety. With Saju killed and Rake’s team on the other end of the bridge, Rake gives everything he has left to kill the remaining bad guys and save Ovi.

With multiple bullets in him, Rake still will not give up, staggering down the bridge and taking out anyone he some across. He eventually sees Ovi make it to safety just as Rake is shot again. He moves to the edge of the bridge and falls into the water knowing his mission was accomplished.
