A new Fast & Furious 9 image teases a high-flying motorcycle stunt by Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty. The ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise just had its opening weekend in 8 international markets and it is already breaking pandemic box-office records set by Godzilla vs. Kong. It’s also pushed the franchise’s gross box office returns to over $6 billion globally. With its theatrical release in the United States still a month away, F9’s promotional campaign is in full swing.

As one of this summer’s most highly anticipated releases, Fast & Furious 9 will see the return of many of the franchise’s usual suspects, such as Vin Diesel’s Dom, Tyrese Gibson’s Roman, and Ludacris as Tej, while also bringing back Sung Kang’s Han after he was presumed dead at the end of Fast & Furious 6. Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez have also been two staples since the franchise’s first film 20 years ago, starring as Mia and Letty respectively, though they have not yet shared a scene. That will change in Fast & Furious 9, as the film is clearly making an attempt to position its female characters front and center, of which Rodriguez has been a major proponent.

Now, the latest Fast & Furious 9 image from Fandango shows a motorcycle stunt by Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty. Though the first few Fast & Furious films focused primarily on street racing and its underground culture, the franchise has famously evolved into a full-on action series replete with unbelievable stunts and increasingly ridiculous plot developments. This off-road motorcycle stunt from Letty is completely in line with what the franchise is known for.

Though this is the latest of countless images and other teasers released for F9, it will surely continue to ratchet up the anticipation for the movie, especially for those excited for the return of Letty, who has one of the more complex histories of any character in the franchise. She was presumed dead in the fourth movie only to return for the sixth. Although Letty suffered from amnesia, which causes her to take a villainous turn. Things return to normalcy for Dom and Letty in Fast & Furious 8, and now Letty returns for F9.

Letty has been one of the franchise’s strongest female characters, and this is in large part due to Rodriguez herself, who never wanted to be portrayed as a trophy girlfriend or part of a love triangle. Letty’s latest motorcycle stunt can be seen when Fast & Furious 9 debuts next month.
