Fallout 76’s New Customization Options In Fallout Worlds Update

Bethesda’s latest entry in its beloved post-apocalyptic RPG series may have stumbled out of the gates, but since then, Fallout 76 has steadily improved with each new updating expanding the world in a variety of ways, most recently with Fallout Worlds and their associated Custom and Public Worlds. The upcoming September update looks to continue the game’s upward trend with its fresh take on customization that will allow players to jump into custom-built versions of Appalachia or create their own – provided they have a Fallout 1st subscription.

Bethesda has steadily introduced new ways for players to make their own fun in Appalachia, from expanding C.A.M.P.s and adding Shelters to giving players access to private worlds. However, the Fallout Worlds update looks to bring some of the franchise’s modding community elements into Fallout 76. From removing C.A.M.P restrictions to gameplay modifiers and even weather manipulation, Fallout Worlds will introduce a plethora of new options for players to explore and create.

Modding and video games go hand in hand, and Bethesda games, in particular, have dedicated modding communities. From entire DLC-sized additions to simple weapon enhancements, mods allow players to customize their gameplay experience. Soon in Fallout 76, players will be able to join rotating public worlds with various modifiers, and Fallout 1st members can create a private one for themselves and their friends to design however they wish. It will be some time before the sheer variety of worlds players will create truly takes hold, but there are already several customization options Bethesda has discussed.

Customization Options In Fallout Worlds

Fallout Worlds will feature settings ranging from workshop adjustments, combat modifiers, and custom weather as Fallout 76 looks to continue expanding on its latest additions in the Steel Reign update, like legendary crafting and shelter customization. Players will be able to turn off C.A.M.P. placement restrictions, increase the buildable radius and height, remove electricity requirements to free up space and ease building strains, and more to come as Bethesda continues adding settings. Since players can bring up to 7 friends along in their custom worlds, the possibilities seem quite wide.

For players that are more concerned with combat than C.A.M.P., there are several modifiers to make Fallout 76 feel completely different. From unlimited ammo to ragdoll physics customization, AP cost sliders to difficulty settings, and even creature spawn adjustments, players can create a near-invincible combat blitz, a grueling struggle for survival, or a brutal PvP warzone. Pair this with all the new legendary crafting possibilities and tier-four legendary items coming this winter, and the options for quantity and quality of carnage are impressive.

The customization doesn’t stop there, though, as players will also be able to adjust world settings such as weather effects like fog, rain, nuclear radiation, and even Quantum Storms. Whether players want to crank all of these up for a true apocalyptic wasteland or turn them down to create a tranquil builder’s paradise, the decision is theirs. Being able to modify the weather and creature spawns alone will drastically change Appalachia’s landscape regardless of what players do with the actual gameplay, though it’s worth noting that it’s not entirely clear how leveling and experience will work. From the initial screenshots released, it appears that the limited-time, rotating Public Worlds will not allow players to earn progression in the Adventure mode, and presumably this will work similarly for Custom Worlds as well, preventing Score and Challenge abuses.

Fallout 76 players on PC, though, don’t have to wait until September to check out all the new content, which is already live on the Public Test Servers. This is but yet another step in Fallout 76‘s continual rebuilding into an impressive world. Bethesda has also stated that this is just the beginning and that they will be announcing more information for Fallout Worlds in the coming months. Whatever else they add, though, the future is already bright for Appalachia, or possibly very dark if players want to max out the Quantum Storms.
