Family Guy: 10 Relationships That Should Have Happened (But Didn’t)

When discussing adult cartoons, it is impossible not to draw attention to Family Guy. Regardless of the show arguably taking a drop in quality since the second season, it has been able to maintain its popularity. This is seen by the fact that its been running for over two decades now. The show has done a wonderful job of creating funny storylines, which allows it to be a good show to watch when in search of something to relax and have a good laugh with.

The series, however, has not focused a lot on building new relationships amongst its characters. There were a lot of intriguing possible pairs that they could have went with. With the show getting rid of many characters over its time, they now can be labeled as missed opportunities. However, the series does still have other pairings that they could elect to put together. This could provide a new level of interest for its viewers, as it would give their writers the opportunity to create unique and exciting material.

10 Brian And Bonnie

Bonnie has shown time and time again that she no longer wants to be with Joe. This was made abundantly clear when she cheated on him with Brian. She even ran away from home in the process with him.

Exploring a potential relationship between these two would have made sense, as they clearly are both flawed and pretty selfish characters. It would have been destined to fail for sure, but seeing them together longer could have been a very intriguing part of the series.

9 Joe And Nora

Joe has not been innocent himself, as he would cheat on Bonnie with his coworker, Nora. His reasoning for doing so was that he was unhappy with Bonnie’s treatment, especially with her essentially cheating on him while in France.

Nora seemed like a far better fit for Joe, as she was very nice and possessed similar interests. Joe ultimately could have benefitted far better with Nora as his partner, as she seemed to be somebody who had the ability to see him as a human being.

8 Chris And Courtney

One of the most intriguing parts of later storylines from this series was the discovery of Quagmire’s daughter. Courtney possessed similar qualities to him, as she often would use the phrase “giggity.”

It would have been interesting to pair her up with Chris, as he of course is not very mature. Courtney, on the other hand, seemed to have a better understanding of the adult world. Seeing these two opposite characters together could have certainly provided a strong degree of hilarity to the series.

7 Quagmire And Cheryl Tiegs

Quagmire had dated Cheryl Tiegs before the series. She was his one true love and the person who made him become unable to have actual relationships with women. He simply would become too hung up on her to properly move on.

When she came back in his life, it would have been great to see them potentially start dating one another. Quagmire certainly is morally reprehensible, but he very well could have become a far better person had he managed to win her back.

6 Tom And Diane

Although Diane was killed off in what feels like ages ago, it was rather strange that the show did not explore a relationship between her and news partner, Tom Tucker. These two could have had a lot of eventful storylines together.

They were caught having a brief fling, but it never blossomed into an actual relationship. It could have been a very cool part to the series, as the two did have a clear amount of chemistry with one another.

5 Meg And Neil

Meg and Neil have never developed into a substantial relationship. It really would make sense for these two to become serious, as they both are in similar places in terms of popularity. Also, Neil treats Meg far better than anyone else around her.

They were romantic for a very small amount of time, but it failed to develop into a long-term relationship. It would be cool to see the series eventually make this come into fruition, as it would give Meg somebody who would respect her immensely.

4 Mickey And Thelma

Mickey and Thelma are the biological parents of Peter, and it would have been awesome to see them date seriously. Mickey was a fun character to follow in his lone episode, as he was essentially just a more Irish version of Peter.

Thelma also would end up losing her husband and spent a lot of time alone after the fact. Mickey could have been an interesting character to give a recurring role to, especially had the writers opted to rekindle these two’s past interest in each other.

3 Brian And Brenda

A common theme of this series is that Quagmire despises Brian with every fiber of his being. Therefore, it would be kind of hilarious if Brian ended up with his sister, Brenda. Brenda has not been seen much at all since she visited with her abusive ex-boyfriend.

For solely comedic purposes, it would be quite intriguing to see Brian end up with Brenda, as it would clearly infuriate Quagmire. It likely would fail pretty quickly, though, as Brian has shown time and time again that he is unable to maintain a healthy relationship.

2 Chris And Patty

An intriguing relationship that the show could focus on is one between Chris and Patty. Chris definitely has a rather warm side to him, even if he is a bit awkward a lot of the time. Patty also has similar qualities in that regard.

Meg may be a bit upset with this dynamic, but realistically, these two could be an interesting pair, even if its as they grow older. They are both nerdy as well, so they certainly have that to relate with, too.

1 Meg And Kevin

At the beginning of the series, Meg made it abundantly clear that she was quite infatuated by Joe’s son, Kevin. Kevin did not possess the same feelings, but perhaps this could change now, as he has made a return to the series.

He certainly has his own demons, as he experienced a lot of trauma whilst fighting in the war. Meg is a fairly empathetic character, so perhaps she could be a wonderful partner to him. It may be a long shot, but in theory, it could very well be a nice relationship.
