Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4 finally resolves a villain storyline from season 2. Netflix and DreamWorks’ animated Fast & Furious spinoff series follows Dominic Toretto’s younger cousin Tony Toretto and his crew of racers as they become spies. The team is back for a fourth season that once again sends them on a mission to save the world. This includes the introduction of cloning and invisible cars ahead of F9 and a brand-new threat. However, the start of season 4 revisits one of the crew’s oldest foes.

In Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 2, Tony and his crew were pitted against Rafaela Moreno. She comes from a wealthy family and was believed to be dead. Rafaela used her anonymity to develop a mind-control formula, but Tony and the Spy Racers stopped her by creating an antidote. Although Rafaela was locked away by the end of season 2, Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 3 saw her freed from this capture. She teams up with the Spy Racers original foe Cleve Kelso but manages to evade capture again by the end of the season. Rafaela’s story had to continue and thankfully Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4 provides some resolution.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4 opens with a montage of Tony and his crew traveling the world to finally apprehend Rafaela. Although they appear to have the upper hand on multiple occasions, Rafaela repeatedly outsmarts them to remain on the run. They first attempt to capture the criminal mastermind by hijacking her private plane, only to discover she left a bomb in it to try and kill the Spy Racers. They then go to waters off of Fiji, sewers in Paris, “some kind of land,” and finally Shanghai. This is where Tony is able to defeat Rafaela at long last and bring her into custody again.

Once Rafaela is captured by the Spy Racers, she is taken away by the unnamed spy agency Ms. Nowhere works for and doesn’t return at any other point in season 4. This could make Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4 the conclusion of Rafaela’s time in the Fast & Furious franchise. Outside of being a thorn in the Spy Racers side once more or becoming an unlikely ally to the team, there isn’t much else that needs to happen with the character. If showrunner Tim Hedrick does want to use Rafaela again, all they will have to do is show her escape custody once again. Since this already happened with some help at the start of season 3, it won’t be too surprising if Rafaela comes back to haunt the team.

With Rafaela out of the picture for Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 4, the show turns its focus to a brand-new villain. The main antagonist for season 4 is a tech engineer genius named Moray. He collects rare Aztec artifacts to aid him in his quest to trigger an apocalyptic event that would flood Mexico City with lava. Moray plans to be the leader of the next version of Mexico and frames Ms. Nowhere and the Spy Racers for a crime so they have fewer resources to try and stop him. There clearly was no room for Rafaela in this story, so it was smart of Fast & Furious Spy Racers to wrap up her story at the beginning of season 4 instead of delaying her return for another time.
