Cops shows have been a norm for TV Networks just as much as comedies and dramas. What makes them so special is the grittiness, suspense, action, and great dialogue between the characters. With the huge success of Law and Order SVU and Chicago PD, the amazing Dick Wolf has extended his crossover universe with the hit CBS show, FBI. The characters here are just as compelling as the other shows but who stands out the most for the audience?

Maggie is the lead but have fans really gravitated towards her? Omar Zidan appears to be on solid footing with his character arc and how can the magnificent Jubel Valentine be ignored as a top character? Are fans embracing the new Agent Tiffany Wallace after she replaced Kristen? Who was the best director between Dana and Isobel?

10 Kelly Moran

Kelly is a Senior Analyst for the New York Office but after that, there is not much to him. His backstory is bare and this is a character the writers should really take a look into. In the office, Kelly is best described as Jubal’s right-hand man. He’s quick, knows his stuff, and is ready when needed.

Although he hasn’t hit the field, Kelly is still a valuable member of the team. He’s one of those actors who needs more screen time. Maybe a trip to Chicago to help Hank Voight would do him some justice.

9 Ian Lim

Lim is to FBI what Patterson was to Blindspot. When Kristen went into the field in season 2, it was Ian Lim who stepped into her role as lead analyst for the New York Office. On the surface, Lim was slightly behind Kristen but he was still able to do the job to the best. When Kristen returned after the stabbing, Lim took a backseat but didn’t go too far.

The only issue fans have regarding his character is that the writers have never been given much of a story. There needs to be something to define who he is instead of a button pusher in the office.

8 Tiffany Wallace

Tiffany Wallace is the newbie of the team since the season 3 premiere. Tiffany has huge shoes to fill but her character has gotten off to a solid start so far. She’s not only from New York, but she’s also from the rough side of the city. Wallace knows the players and everyone else between. She’s what the FBI needs. Wallace’s character is the equivalent of how Chicago PD uses Kevin Atwater.

Wallace is tough. She’s not backing down from anyone but she and her new partner Scola must find some common ground. Their back and forth dialogues have been entertaining but at some point, they will need to have a bond as strong as OA and Maggie’s.

7 Stuart Scola

Scola, at first glance, comes off a bit cocky. It’s the way he talks and carries himself but he’s also a clean-cut guy. He means business and while the spotlight shines bright on OA and Maggie, Scola is not afraid to get down in the dirt and get the job done. He speaks with authority and clearly understands his role at the NYC Office.

Scola has yet to run into any major problems. While OA and Maggie have had cases where they went against the grain, Scola has done everything by the book. The downside for his character is that he has had the most partners. In just two seasons on the show, Scola is already on his third partner.

6 Dana Mosier

Dana began the show as the special agent in charge but made her bones in the FBI as an expert profiler. For all Criminal Minds fans, Mosier could have easily been a fan favorite. She was good at what she did and while she had an office filled with self-serving agents, Dana held the fort down.

She trusted her gut but that left the door open for Dana to let her agents do what they thought was best out in the field. Sometimes it worked and others not so well. Mosier would bend the rules and took the heat for what came her way afterward.

5 Isobel Castille

Replacing Dana was expected to be hard. She set a high standard on FBI and to see her go, well, that left a void. The first impression fans had of Isobel was not a good one. There was no smiling, just strictly business. Where Dana would have given the okay for OA and Maggie to step outside the box, Isobel was by the book.

She settled into her role and the writers have given her more of a personality since her entry. She’s a little more lenient with the rules but there is still that missing storyline of her personal life.

4 Maggie Bell

Maggie is all business. After the death of her husband, Maggie had nothing else to hold on to but her job. Everything became serious with little to no room for anything else. She’s a great agent with great instincts and she and OA make a perfect team but something is still missing there. Maggie needs a life outside of the office.

In the field, Maggie is quickly becoming an expert at profiling. However, it’s her life that she really needs to take a hard look at. She’s beautiful and driven and the writers must do a better job of giving her something other than the badge to rely on. Much the same way they’ve done with OA.

3 Kristen Chazal

In the first season of FBI, Kristen was the star. The lead analyst for the New York Office, Kristen was the eyes who oversaw everything. If information was needed, it was Kristen who everyone turned to. She was a master at the keyboard and knew just who to talk to in order to get the answers needed.

Kristen wanted to become a Field Agent and that’s where everything went wrong. She second-guessed her abilities at first and then was injured, which caused a little hesitation in getting back in the field. She has now since departed the show and gave way to newcomer Tiffany.

2 Omar Adom Zidan

It’s amazing that Maggie is billed as the lead when it’s Omar who gets the best storylines. While Maggie is the profiler, Omar is always on the attack. After being on the receiving end of racial prejudice and bullying after the 9/11 attacks, Omar felt that he needed to join the FBI to help stand up for Muslims who had been subjected to Islamaphobia as a result of the rise in right-wing extremism. He hates that the public views his faith in a negative light and wants to change it.

The writers have also developed Omar’s storylines and character development as he is now in a committed relationship, learning how to juggle his budget heavy life with that of the high profile lifestyle of his girlfriend.

1 Jubal Valentine

Jubal is the man who makes the New York Office tick. He’s the composure of the orchestra, he does the directing of the agents in the field and sets the tone for the cases. The man with the earpiece is everything the show needs. Nothing gets past Jubal. While he’s not the official leader of the branch, he’s respected as such.

With Jubal’s character, the writers have done an excellent job of bridging the professional and personal life. We’ve met his ex-wife, his kids, and their future stepfather. Unlike most of the other characters on the show, Jubal has depth.
