PS5 customers who pre-order Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the PlayStation Store will receive an exclusive Cacstar weapon for Yuffie, which she can use in her two DLC chapters. FF7 Remake Intergrade is the upcoming upgraded version of FF7 Remake for the PS5, which will be free to those who own the original remake on PS4.

FF7 Remake Intergrade will add a number of visual improvements to the game, supposedly making full use of the PS5’s hardware. However, the most exciting additions to the game are two new DLC chapters starring Yuffie from the original Final Fantasy 7, as she infiltrates Midgar during the events of the story. Yuffie teams up with a different Avalanche cell, as part of her search for a secret “Ultimate Materia” in the hands of the Shinra Corporation. On the way, she encounters the Deepground organization from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7, an event that promises to further shake up the timeline of the original game.

Most notably, Yuffie is the player-controlled character in the FF7 Remake Intergrade DLC episodes she stars in, and players who pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store will receive a new weapon for her to wield. According to the PlayStation Store, pre-ordering the Standard Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game will receive a free Cacstar weapon for Yuffie’s campaign. Digital Deluxe Edition pre-orders will also net buyers a Digital Artbook and a Digital Mini-Soundtrack. Based on the wording, this deal will be exclusive to digital pre-orders on PSN.

As a ninja, Yuffie has a different fighting style than the other playable characters in FF7 Remake. She fights with a massive shuriken and uses tandem moves with her ally, Sonon. Her unique combat abilities involve throwing and retrieving her weapon, which is what she will also do with the Cacstar in battle. It’s currently unknown if the Cacstar weapon has any special attributes, or if it’s just a cool-looking weapon for players to use during Yuffie’s campaign.

This isn’t the first time that the iconic Cactuar monster from the Final Fantasy series has been reserved for DLC, as customers who pre-ordered FF7 Remake could claim Summon Materia for a Chocobo Chick, Carbuncle, and Cactuar. However, it’s doubtful that the inclusion of a Cactuar-themed weapon is going to sway many people into buying FF7 Remake Intergrade – the die-hard fans who love Cactuars are likely already interested in playing the game. With that being said, it’s a neat little extra for people who are purchasing the digital version of the game.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade is coming to PlayStation 5 on June 10, 2021.
