The wait for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is finally over as the latest FFXIV expansion has launched in early access. However, Patch 6.0 is the biggest to date as it brings an end to the long-running Hydaelyn and Zodiark arc, which means the hype surrounding Endwalker is incredibly high. As expected, this means a lot of server congestion and long waits for queueing into the game. So while players wait to load into FFXIV, here are some things to help pass the time.

The simple fact is, many people are eager to start Endwalker. FFXIV is more popular than ever, and both longtime fans and newcomers are eager to see what the expansion has to offer – as well as how the story of Zodiark will end. Ahead of Patch 6.0’s release, Square Enix warned players that server congestion in FFXIV would likely be an issue, giving fans plenty of time to prepare for long wait times and queues. Still, wait times seem even longer if players are simply staring at the screen and watching as the number of people in the queue gets smaller and smaller.

Thankfully, there are some easy solutions to help pass the time while waiting for the queue in FFXIV. The most obvious of these, of course, is reading through the 6.0 patch notes for Endwalker. The full patch notes went live ahead of the new update, which means reading through them will give players a bit of a headstart before logging in to Endwalker. This is where fans can see where starting quests for the new Reaper and Sage jobs start, learn juicy new details on raids and dungeons, and look at screenshots of the newest minions, mounts, and glamours.

For those fans who’ve already read through the 6.0 Patch Notes for FFXIV, there’s still plenty of other Endwalker-related activities to help pass the time while waiting in the queue to log in. With the winter holidays here (or arriving soon), it’s the perfect time to shop for FFXIV merch that would make great gifts. A little online shopping can be a great way to keep busy while patiently waiting for the “Number of Players in Queue” notification to disappear.

The opening movie for Endwalker can be viewed inside the client, and can be an excellent way to pass the time, but this means leaving the queue. Thankfully, there are trailers and other previews online. The previews and screenshots of Endwalker so far have been beautiful and for those wanting to focus solely on the newest expansion rather than FFXIV in general, there are a number of Letters to the Producer videos and trailers to catch up on, including the FFXIV: Endwalker Launch Trailer, which can be viewed below or here.

Many users have a Discord channel for their Free Company, so chatting there with friends who play FFXIV can also make the wait a little less arduous. It’s also fun to get to discuss theories about Endwalker‘s story, changes to FFXIV‘s housing system, or any of the other improvements and new additions arriving in Patch 6.0. While server congestion can be a real problem with the launch of any new expansion, the wait times should decrease as servers stabilize in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker and players begin exploring the latest content.
