New melee DPS role quests have been introduced with Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker. Unlike in Shadowbringers, these role quests are not a requirement to beat the main story. However, they offer a good amount of experience points to push players closer towards the ending. They also let melee DPS jobs have a few extra aesthetic options.

Melee DPS role quests wrap up details about Limsa Lominsa’s storyline lingering from A Realm Reborn and Shadowbringers. It brings back many characters from low-level questlines, dungeons, and events. Players may want to review the Unending Journey in their inn rooms to recap the story thus far.

Players can undertake these missions as a Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, or Reaper. These FFXIV jobs can be interchanged between each quest, and it may be a good idea if one wants to spread the experience point rewards. If players make it through the Endwalker main storyline as a non-melee DPS, they may want to consider doing the bulk of these quests as a Samurai or Reaper as both start at increased levels when unlocked.

Limsa DPS Quests in Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker

Players must first complete the level 85 main story quest ‘At World’s End’ from the Radiant Host Soldier to unlock all role quest options. This will require completing the FFXIV Vanaspati dungeon at least once. The quest will introduce players to Sirabaht, who oversees the delegates staying in Radz-at-Han. Next, DPS players should speak to the Lominsan Delegate to start the quests chain that goes all the way to level 90:

  • Storm Clouds Brewing: level 85, from Lominsan Delegate in Radz-at-Han (X: 7.7, y:9.6)
  • The Crushing Tide: level 86, from Maelstrom Secretariat in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (x: 12.6, y: 12.5)
  • Old Heroes Never Die: level 87, from Maelstrom Secretariat
  • A Mother’s Suffering: level 88, from Maelstrom Secretariat
  • Out of the Shadows: level 89, from Maelstrom Secretariat
  • To Calmer Seas: level 90, from Maelstrom Secretariat

Choices made during ‘Old Heroes Never Die’ will affect the opening dialogue of A Mother’s Suffering. For the most approval, send Landenel and Brayflox Alltalks to fight the blasphemies, while U’odh Nunh and Shamani Lohmani stop the summoning. However, the final quest outcome does not change. In ‘Out of the Shadows,’ Lorens will greatly approve if you choose him over Merlwyb as the team sharpshooter.

Customized Artifacts for Physical Melee DPS Jobs

After finishing ‘To Calmer Seas’ and speaking with the Lominsan Delegate, players will now be able to dye any Artifact weapons and armor for level 89 physical melee DPS jobs. This includes all wares offered by Varsarudh in Old Sharlayan. Her entire stock is free of charge and can be replaced if discarded or placed in the Glamour Dresser. Players can even start collecting and dying any physical melee DPS gear even if that job hasn’t reached level 89 yet.

While the melee DPS questline currently ends here, it may expand in a future update. Previously, patch 5.4 included a quest chain that intertwined every Shadowbringers role quest with the Warring Triad from Heavensward. With this in mind, even non-melee focused players may want to have these role quests finished ahead of time.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5.
