Since Final Fantasy XIV’s Shadowbringers expansion, Job Quests have been replaced with Role Quests. Endwalker continues this custom with unique storylines such as the new Physical Ranged DPS Role Quests. In the past, these questlines were essential for progressing the expansion’s MSQ, but Endwalker has made these job-related quests optional for all players. During ShadowbringersFFXIV used to have only four primary Role Quest types: Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Tank, and Healer. Since Patch 6.00, Ranged DPS has been divided into Physical Ranged DPS and Magical Ranged DPS.

Physical Ranged DPS jobs include Bard, Machinist, and Dancer. Players can work towards becoming a Bard right from the start by choosing Archer. After reaching Level 30, they can transition to the Bard job. Machinist became available during Heavensward, and Dancer was introduced during Shadowbringers. While it’s not necessary to reach Endwalker’s level requirement for all of these ranged-combat jobs to partake in the role quests, players must have at least one at the needed level in FFXIV.

After attaining Level 85 with either Bard, Machinist, or Dancer, players can accept the quest “Seeds of Disquiet” from a Doman Delegate. This NPC can be in Radz-at-Han at X:7.6, Y:9.4, but do keep in mind that this area isn’t available until players have reached a specific point in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker’s main campaign.

Finding The Physical Ranged DPS Questline in FFXIV: Endwalker

Adventurers who do not have a Level 85 job in Physical Ranged DPS but still wish to engage with the Role Questline can instantly level up using a Tales of Adventure / One Hero’s Journey boost from the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store. These job boosts will only provide FFXIV players with a level of 80, so the five more levels required are up to the player to attain. The first and foremost way of leveling between Levels 80-90 in Final Fantasy XIV is completing the Daily Duty Roulettes. Since this method can be “grindy” and tiresome, it is recommended for adventurers to also participate in Bozjan Southern Front and Zadnor.

The Bozjan Southern Front instance and Zadnor zone allow players to partake in a storyline separated from the MSQ. As long as one’s gear is at least 80 and around iLevel 430, they will be able to enter without issue. These two features come with their own forms of FATES and Trials called Skirmishes and Critical Engagements. In Shadowbringers, participating in these optional challenges was one of the most efficient ways for leveling 70-80, and the benefits apply to Endwalker‘s 80-90 leveling as well. As players continue the Physical Ranged DPS Role Questline, they can always return to these XP-gaining methods if they need to level up for accepting the next Role Quest.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam or Square Enix’s official website.
